Sorry all as I am so new, and completely ignorant to all that needs to be done when starting this adventure! Guess what my question is....are the consults covered anywhere under insurance or is this usually and out of pocket expense. If so...the cost??? Are the evals usually only done after the consult?

Hi, im new too, so it looks like we're learning this together. Im still trying to get all the information i need to get all this done. Im wating for my past dr's to submit my medical records and stuff. I do have a psych appointment i have to go to thats coming up on the 28th. Basically what i do, is with my insurance, i look at the list of dr's in my network then contact them to find out if they're covered. i pay a co pay and the rest is billed to my insurance. What insurance do you have?

Hey Trish! Well my employer is changing insurance carriers at the first of the year and we're having open enrollment now. It's Cigna/open access plus...and I have found a doctor here in Wichita...Dr. Dort that is a cigna provider on my insurance. However looking into the coverage I do have a 6 mo. wait ahead as I've got to be under a dr. supervised diet for at least 6 mo prior to getting approved. I've been to dr's in the years past, but the diets all consisted of simply providing prescriptions such as phen phen and pondamin. They don't consider that enough to qualify, and neither do they consider programs such as Weigh****chers, LA Weight Loss, etc. to be enough.....aughhhhhhhh. So I'm approaching it like this....I've got 6 months to get started, get my ducks all in a row, gotta quit smoking, and learn, learn, learn. What about you?

Yes definetly quit smoking. My friend recently went to the seminar in topeka, and they basically said if you smoke they're not even going to bother with you. So quit that habit now and forever. Think of it this way. Each time you smoke, run, not walk, but run a mile. you'll soon get tired of the running and will stop. Let me know if that works, cuz i just made it up. Anyways im going through liv lite in junction city, ks. The dr's are dr. bellum ( i think thats it) and dr.narcisco. I only met dr belum through the suport group meeting. He seems really nice. He definetly seem like that dr that will go the extra step to make you comfortable. So i like that. But im still learning. I dont think you can ever learn enough. My surgeons only do open, i was a lil dissapointed but got over it. Ive a bunch of questions i asked at my support group, if you ever wanna know any of them let me know!!! Trish

Hey girl...so how's everything going? Had any news? I did visit with my PCP the other day, and she made the referral for the specialist here in Wichita. Of course I've got to go to the seminar first and foremost and go from there. Does livlite require alot of preop classes like the Solutions for Life does here in Wichita? Well hope all is going well...and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey Happy Thanksgiving to you too. So far, im still waiting on 2 medical records from previous dr's ive seen. I'm starting to get annoyed cuz it's been over 2 wks since i've sent the request out. My current dr has already submitted his referral and medical records. Ima give them another week, and if nothing, i guess i'll actually call them to see what's the hold up. I mean i guess i could say it's a matter of Life and Death, and that would be true right? Anyways, ive already attended one meeting, we have another one the 2nd tuesday in December.
