Same boat here. Wanna come jump on my boat and we can have a pity party together? Keep your head up. Do you not have insurance that covers the surgery or no insurance at all? Do you qualify for medicaid/care? Can you possibly find a job that has the insurance benefit? Goodluck!

Yeah i agree with Chad, would u be able to get a job with insurance, that would possibly cover it? I know a lot of jobs has this your insurance can't go into effect after a period of working there, but it's better than nothing.

I know what it's like to have no hope of getting this surgery. But just know that there are many many others in the same situation is you. The state legislature is working on a major healthcare intiative this next session, I am hoping that with the current leaders in the state they will expand coverage, not only to include WLS for those insured but allow more affordable insurance to those uninsured right now. I hope you don't mind me prodding, but you said you have a crap job with no insurance. Are you sure you don't qualify for the state health care? At the link below you can fill out the information and it will tell you what you may qualify for. Keep your head up, if your a single-mom putting a roof over your kids heads and food on the table you are very strong willed. It's that kind of fight that we need to make more insurance available for people and for insurance companies to cover this surgery. https://srits004.srs.ks.gov/assessment_question_en.htm

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Kansas Medicaid will not pay for any WLS. Kansas Medicaid and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas are the only 2 insurances that I know of that will just simply not pay for WLS under any cir****tance not even if you sue them. I'm afraid that I don't have any better suggestion then what has already been said.

Other insurance companies in the state of Kansas that don't cover are all state employee health plans, which are Preferred Plus of Kansas HMO and PPO, Coventry Medical HMO and PPO, BCBS of KS HMO and PPO. Sorry I thought medicaid was federal.
