New to Kansas Board, and got a date!

Hello there! I am new to this board, and I have a date. I had one for October 23, and when we did the pre-op testing a UTI was found. So drink lots and lots of water and be healthy before you do your pre-op testing!! My new date is November 20. YIPPEE Thanksgiving week, don't have to cook for the in-laws this year!! hee hee

Hi Shelley! I am having my surgery in Wichita, with Dr. Dort. Yes, the 20th is just around the corner when I think about what needs to be done by then. I had everything ready for the 23rd and on the 20th they postponed it. So I have to make sure my back ups are still available. It will be Thanksgiving week, and that makes it nice because my husband will be off work, but makes it harder for my back ups as they have other family obligations. It will all come together. I just know it will.

oh wow Shelley! I just read your profile. You are in Wichita too!! Wow!! And only 2 months post op! How are you doing? Did you have Dr. Dort?

Dottie, I actually had my surgery in Topeka with Dr. Berntsen. That is where my ins. would cover everything. I am doing okay..I still have a lot to learn. These two months have flown by. I have had some tough days, but overall I have felt much better than I expected. I have lost just under 50 pounds, and I am off all my meds. It is challenging at times, I try to remind myself not to get in a hurry to figure everything out. My biggest problem is trying to get in all the protein and water. I really don't desire food and it is hard to remember to eat (VERY WEIRD!). I am not familiar with Dr. Dort. Where is he/she? What hospital? Do you know of any support groups in the area? OH is my main support. If I can help in any way, just let me know. Shelley

Shelley, Dr. Dort is at St. Francis. He is a cutie! I joked with my family once I met him that I could not have the surgery because Dr. Dort would cause me to sin. My family looked at me real crazy, and I told them how cute he was and he was going to make me lust when I looked at him. Well, my son told me I might as well go ahead and have the surgery because I have evidently already lusted or I wouldn't have noticed! ha ha Nothing like a smart mouthed 21 year old. Dr. Early has a support group on Tuesdays, I'm thinking it's a weird time like 5:00 in the evening. They meet at the Solutions for Life office over behind the Genesis on East Central. Their phone number is 689-5232 I have only been to a few because they were mandatory for my pre surgery classes I took there. Let me know what you find out, I would love to have someone to go with!

Hello Dottie!!!! Huge congrats on your date. It will be here before you know it!! I am now 12 weeks out and I also used Dr. Dort!!(He's a cutie) What a small, small world!!
