Another Newbie!
Another newbie here! I just started seriously looking into gastric bypass or other WLS methods and I have come to find out that my insurance has an exemption of anything related to weight loss. I am a state employee and all my choices in medical providers specifically say exemption for WLS and other weight loss relating to obesity.
So I am discouraged to start with. This wasn't an easy decision anyway to start looking into the surgery. But there is no way I can afford this on my own.
I have wrote all the state congressmen and women, and the state senators, as well as the governor's office, as well as all the political candidates running about our need not just for the state employee plan but other health plans in the state to include WLS and other obesity treatments. I get the run around from most of the offices, or promises. But I plan to stay on top of all of them, because I think this exclusion for any weight loss methods is illegal. I did get a pretty good response from several senators/candidates but I will won't mention them yet.
Anyone a state employee and going through this process?

Hey Tychelle! It is me! [email protected]. How are you doing? email me and we can talk more.
doing good. Just checking into getting this surgery. I can lose, but I never can seem to keep it off, I don't want to keep going through this cycle like that. Yep Summer and I are still married. 2 boys. How are you doing? feel free to email me too! [email protected]
Hi my name is Candy and I am friends w/Butterflyness. We work together and she told me about your story. I think that is flat out crazy that any insurance wouldn't cover this type of surgery. They will have to shell out alot more than that if being overweight causes you to have many other problems which it will eventually. That's great that you are letting somebody know and I wish you good luck in your journey.
