port not healing

hi, i'm looking for help for my mom. she had the lap-band done over three months ago and the incision by the port will not heal. it oozes everyday. she has been on three rounds of atibiotics and is doing great ,but has a hole in her stomach. her surgean says she has never had a patient do this and has not helped our fears any. the local doc says you wont have a hole in your stomach forever. i love my mom and we are worried. has anyone out there that had this happen to them? help please!

Lori, Your mom has a port infection, which isn't the end of the world. I have a solution that will take care of the problem - I'd be happy to talk to your mom's surgeon if you would like. my mom went to a wound specialist and the culture came back as a resitant staph infection. he has changed her antibiotic and she has to put in some kind of strip into her wound everyday. she is getting soar from this for it shoves quite aways in. how scarey this all is. this wound specialist recomends getting her port taken out. he is suppose to contact her surgean. she sees the wound specialist again next tuesday. we are all kindoff shellshocked. mom has lost alot of weight but her energy low. the infection and antibiotics probly have alot to do with that. at least we have an answer now but a resistant staph infection, we are worried. Dr. C., thanks for your responce. after the culture coming back,do you think her port needs to be taken out?
