This is my first email since my lap-band on 12/14/05. I have lost 50 pounds total but have lost nothing since April. I am feeling great. I loved my surgeon and his staff and have no health related problems. I have gone from a size 30 to a 22! I paid for this operation myself because my health insurance would not cover it - that was a big decision. I guess I thougth after a major surgery I would keep loosing until the weight was off - Not. I am interested to hear from other people that have had the lap-band process. I did not exercise when I lost the first 50 pounds. Do you reach the point with your weight loss where you MUST exercise daily to keep loosing? I just had a fill last week and I'm still not loosing even though I'm tightened. HELP!

The answer to your question is yes you have to exercise! It's part of using your tool successfully, but you already know this! I am 2 1/2 years out and lost 100 pounds in 6 months and I have struggled with huge plateues. The secret is to keep moving and follow all of your basic band rules! You can do it! Don't be like me! I have started walking regularly just since last month. I wish I'd started must sooner. There is a really great refresher of basic band rules on this website. It has remotivated me to lose more. Good luck! Janet in KC

Absolutely! In fact, I have exercised at some level since the beginning, and I find that the more I lose, the harder I need to exercise to keep going down. I guess that makes sense....when you have less to lose, you have to work harder to lose it. LOL Definitely review the band rules, and evaluate whether you have a proper level of restriction. There's no reason why your weight loss should stop unless you allow it to, or you get to your goal. You can do it!! Go back to the basics. Do you ever visit the lapband forum here on OH? Lots of helpful people there, people going through the same things as you, celebrations, etc. Its a very supportive group. Good luck to you! ~Tiffany
