I am considering having this procedure done and have found this doctor. Has anyone used her and what was your experience? Thanks

Dr Kaniewski did my gastric bypass and I would highly recommend her. As a matter of fact I did a commercial for them that is running now in KC on NBC and ABC (for no charge). She was very professional and caring. I had NO problems at all with my surgery. I was one of her first patients here in KC - had my surgery done last August and am within 2 pounds of my goal (135) for a total loss of 90 pounds. The hospital staff was excellent and I am so pleased with the results. I recommended her to a coworker and she had the lap band procedure several months ago and is doing great!!! Sharon Abrams

I used her as well for my gastric bypass. Love the staff. Had my surgery 5/11/06 and have lost 42 pounds, going for my 2 month post op tomorrow.

Congrats on lossing!!! I would like info on how much it costs with Dr. Kaniewski ? I live in Missouri but would like to use Dr. Kaniewski if possible, she seems very nice. Is that possible to do or do I have to use a MO doc? Thanks for any help you can give.

I live in MO also and used her. I had UHC insurance through my seasonal job and they paid for my surgery. I had to pay $2300 out of pocket for my bypass. I believe she said at her seminar that the LapBand is around $17,000 and the bypass is around $23,000. They have also started a new reward system to help people with aftercare. You get points for things you do and can redeem the points for office visits post op or plastic surgery. You could also ask about that.

Hi Melissa, I had the lap band procedure done with Dr. K. on May 22. I went today for my first fill. I am down 20 pounds. I feel great. I have struggled with weight loss for many years. I would highly recommend this Dr. and the facility. She is very professional and will answer any questions you may have. Plus, she wants to make sure with you that you are making the right decision for you. Someone mentioned cost in another reply that was too high. If your insurance doesn't pay then it is $13,500. One of her requirments before surgery is that you attend one of her seminars. Then your two pre-op visits are part of the $13500 even though you have to "front" that cost. Then fills are an additonal cost. Again, I want to say I am very pleased with this Dr. and hospital. I would definitely recommend them to you. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have further questions. It would be best to email if you do have questions as I am the Mom of two young boys and I don't get to this sight often. But I do regularly check my email. Sharon

Melissa, I checked out a couple of the others in town and really felt the most comfortable with her and the staff. I have gone to the seminar and to my 1st pre-op appointment. My surgery date is 9-11-06 and the cost is $13,500 not including lab work andfills for the Lab-Band, She estimated the cost to be about $14,000. I know that I have made the right choice.
