medicare/medicaid or both?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi my name is Kelli and i am new here in Wichita. well i moved here in april but i just now have become linked to a dr. i am from Louisiana and there i was approved on medicaid alone but a lot of the doctors have moved away that would accept this type of coverage (thank 2 hurricane Katrina). i had almost given up on this wls but i am back at it again. can any of you kind, dear people tell me if i need to also have coverage from medicare to even be considered for wls here in the great state of Kansas? i need your help. i will greatly appreciate any and everyone's response thanks, kelli

I was at a seminar this morning given by Dr. Dunshee of Tallgrass. He doesn't go into the insurance issue much but he did say that BCBS of Kansas and Medicaid Kansas expressly forbid any weight loss surgery. If you have Medicare it will pay if you are under 65 and do it at a Center of Excellence.
