Hi, my waiting period is over (medicare ssdi) ,(thank goodness!) I do not have medicaid. What kind of documentation do they need? I figured a physical should do it, I am in pretty good health for weighing 385 lb.s other than type 2 diabetes and a bad back . Since medicare covers the surgery (i don't think you even need a referrel) Do I have to provide documentation of medically supervised diets? oooooh that was so many yr.s ago , and in a diff. state. Any reason why so many of you are going to OK. instead of Sedalia?

Hi Susan, I found this article on the ASBS website. It talks a bit about where things may be going in regard to the medically supervised diet. I don't think the choice to go to OK is one of quality, both surgeons seem to have good references. It's just that Ok. was the one that was a COE and took Medicare and so that is the one many focused on at first. I am sure as more COE's are available people will stay closer to home, but for now the options are slim to none in this area.
