Hi, fellow Kansans. I had Lap Band surgery on Monday, and everything considered, feel pretty good. Still have massive amounts of gas from the surgery, and the incisions are a little sore, but nothing I can't handle. I've been taking the pain meds that Dr. Kaniewski prescribed and can say that I haven't slept this much in YEARS. Today, I had a manicure and pedicure and have started to feel nearly human again. Yesterday, I went in for the upper GI barium thing and the radiologist thought it looked like I already had some restriction. (By the way, my husband drove me.) The best thing is that I have not been hungry! One minor aggrevation -- I was having difficulty urinating (getting it to start and getting a normal stream -- sorry for the graphic nature of this). I asked Dr. Kaniewski and she thought it was caused by the anesthesia meds, as they included an anticholinergic which might cause the bladder sphincter to be a little irritated. All in all, a good experience so far!

Natalie, I live in MO. but used Dr. K. as well. Had my bypass on May 11th and have done well. I know what you mean about the pain meds. I was taking half the prescribed dose and still felt like sleeping all the time. Anyway, good luck with your weight loss journey.

Hi Natalie, I had surgery the same morning as you - I was first that day. I saw a Natalie on the board. So glad all is going well for you. I was there yesterday for my post op visit and I have already lost 18 pounds. I am sooooo eeeexxxxccccciiittttteeed. I hope all is going as well for you. How are you doing with basically not eating anything? We need to get connected and do this journey together. Are you going to the support group tomorrow/Saturday 6/10? I am planning to. Maybe we can meet up there. Sharon
