Another new Center of Excelence!

This one is much closer to Topeka if your interested. Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, MO It's about 65 miles east of Kansas City on Highway 50. I have found Phillip Hornbostel, M.D. that works out of there and he DOES take Medicare. He is on obesityhelp.com surgeons list. I have called him and he said I do have to attend his seminar to get an appointment. But it is unlikely that I will have to repeat all the presurgical tests again. I only have to do that if they have reason to be concerned that I have a blockage or something like that. This is VERY encouraging news for me. This place is only about 100 miles from me so getting there is easy and doesn't require an overnight stay. If anyone is interested the seminars are held on the first Tuesday of the month. The next one is June 6th at 6:00 pm at the Bothwell Regional Health Center. I know I'll be there.

No for now I think I will pursue Dr. Hornbostel. He is much closer and his staff have been up to this point much more helpful. I asked all the same questions to Dr. Keith's staff and they were very short with me saying I will have to wait to get my questions answered until after the seminar and I get an appoinment with the Dr. There also seems to be a substantial waiting list for Dr. Keith. I will keep Dr. Keith in mind in case I can't go to Dr. Hornbostel.

Mark, Well good luck and I hope you are able to get a date soon. I know what you mean about there being a long list for Dr. Keith, but all I can do is either wait for him or wait for the folks in Junction City to get their COE. I emailed Pam up in JC yesterday and she made it sound like they were no closer to getting a COE. Oh well someday my turn will come. I will not give up. Dr. Hornbostel is a great surgeon. I know 3 people that have used him and was going to use him myself but the hospital won't take my insurance for Bariatric surgeries. So had to find another surgeon but I think it worked out great. Dr. H. is very busy now that he is a Center of Excellence. There are lots of his patients that post on the MO. board. So if you have any questions, just post there as well and everyone there will gladly answer your questions. Good Luck with your journey!!
