Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone has heard anything else this week or if anyone has any news, even if it isn't pertinent to surgery and such. I am hoping maybe we can get this board a little more active. Well, anyhow, I have no new news today. Maybe tomorrow. Goodnight Kansas!

I am just a little bummed out right now. I called Dr. Keith's office and spoke to someone down there and she said they are running behind, so they have not even looked at my patient packet that I sent a month ago. I hate playing the waiting game. Steph.

Hi Steph, Don't be bummed out. No matter where you go, it is going to be a wait. Try to keep that in mind. Everyone, even the patients are going nuts right now, trying to get this to happen. It was very irresponsible of CMS to just put the memo out the way they did without any warning or grace period. But all we can do is write our Congressman, Senators and other officials to see if that makes any difference. I for one have written them all, but it doesn't seem to matter much. Geez, sorry, I was typing this to make you feel better...lol Take care and stay in touch. {{{hugs}}}

I know, but I guess I was hoping that since the hospital that Dr. Keith operates out of has their COE that I could waltz right in and have surgery soon. Apparently since they are so far behind on even looking at patient packets that everyone else had the same idea to go to Dr. Keith. Oh well I know it is all in God's hands and whatever his plan is for me I will accept it even if it is just to hurry up and wait. Steph.

I'm afraid writing your senator or anyone else is an act of futility. I can't tell you how many veterans have called/visited Senator Brownbacks office trying desperately to get help getting the disability they need. These are this countries Hero's. Combat wounded soldiers. He talks a big talk while they are there. But as soon as they leave he forgets all about them. No help ever comes. If he doesn't care about them why would he care about us? We're just fat people. This whole mess is more discouraging than all the failed diets put together. I'm trying to work with Dr. Keith as well. Everyone who does is starting over including the seminar. He said I could watch a film instead but that is the same as the seminar. He just won't accept what the docs here have already done. The arrogance in this field is pathetic. I've been poked, prodded, tested and psychoanalyzed to death. I'll do it all again if necessary since I'm doing it to survive but I'm going to be a little grumpy about it.

I got a call yesterday from Dr. Keith's office and they said they will add my name to the pile for the film that has to be watched. That sounds to me like there is a whole bunch of people waiting to watch this film so now I get to wait with them. Oh well. Steph.

I'm sorry I'm going to sound ignorant about all this, but I'm just interested in what you all are going through. Where is Dr. Keith, and why is everyone going to him? I will keep you all in my thoughts. I know if you are persistent you'll get your surgeries! Hang in there!! ~Tiffany

Dr. Keith is in Norman, Oklahoma. Medicare now requires a surgeron to perform at a hospital that is a Center of Excellence, there are none in Kansas so Dr. Keith is the closest to me.
