Sorry, I read that after I posted the response. I would agree with you about something more informal. I bet if u mention something like that people would follow. Overall how are u doing? Hopefully good. I know my husband and I are doing great. Hope to see you, probably have met already but never knew it. Miranda

Hi! Thanks for your reply. I go to the hospital weight management center too! I am still in my six week post-op period, but I'm sure I'll see you at the Thursday meetings in November.
I was actually looking for a meeting that was less formal. I have a friend in MN who had a Saturday coffee group.
Don't get me wrong...I think Lutheran's program is top notch and the people there are great! I was just thinking it would be nice to have a venue that was a little more casual.
I look forward to seeing you at the monthly meetings,
Barbara

I have an excellent support group through the program but I was looking for something a little more informal. I was thinking about a Saturday morning coffee get together. Very informal just to exchange info, hang out, talk, share, etc. I guess we don't have anything like that here, and I'm a little disappointed.

Hi. I haven't been on here in ages but I have fallen off the wagon. I need to get remotivated. St.Vincent used to have a support group for their patients that met in Ft. Wayne but I'm not sure if they still do. Your surgeons office should have information on support groups if available.

Address and Phone change for Dr. Margaret Inman DS-RNY-VGS-LapBand-Revisions
The office is located on the second floor of St. Vincent's Bariatric Center of Excellence.
I have both Medicare and Medicaid, and Medicaid picked up what Medicare did not pay.

Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!
Due to disability from lupus and fibromyalgia, I have both Medicare and a spend-down Indiana Medicaid. Dr. Margaret Inman did my DS, and I'm pretty sure Medicare paid for the majority of it, but there was still some left, which Medicaid took care of, since I met my spend-down prior to the date of my surgery (2/25/2009).
I feel Dr. Inman is very good with higher risk patients like me, as most surgeons won't touch a lupus patient. At 405 pounds, the benefits clearly outweighed the risks (pardon the pun), so I got my DS, and the weight loss has allowed me to more effectively manage ny lupus and fibro.
It might be beneficial to call Meridian Surgical Group, and ask. I had my surgery at St. Vincent's. I'm not sure aboput Clarian- which is now IU Health. I'm not sure if Dr. John Huse is in the group, or a private practice, but I do see him at the office when I go in for my surgeon's visits. I'm on a five year follow with Dr. Inman...18 months left! I think she's doing a study, because a lady in my support group had a DS with Inman, but she didin't have as long of a follow up period. I do recall signing some documents allowing my stats to be used in research.
If you're interested in the DS, Dr. Inman is the only surgeon in the state who performs it. She is with Meridian Surgical Group, Carmel, IN. She also does surgery at Clarian/IU Health, but only does the DS at St. Vincent's.
