They may also cover the DS. When I had mine in 2009, which was under Medicare and Medicaid, the only two bariatric surgeries Medicare covered were the RNY and the DS. Many times, state medical coverage is in lockstep with Medicare, at least then it was.
BTW, I'm on Medicare because of disability, which might have made a difference, too. The DS was to improve my condition, which it has.
You might want to ask Dr. Inman for a recommendation. I'm thinking of moving to Indy, and that's what I plan to do. I would think she would know someone that you wouldn't have to go through all the "jazz" with regarding your DS, because they'll already be familiar.
I called and was told they are not having a party and haven't had one for the last few years.

December 27 will be my 10 year surgery anniversary. I called the bariatric center and left them a message regarding the party. I'll post as soon as I hear from them!

Has anyone heard if St. V's is going to have their annual bariatric Christmas party? If so, could you post all the details here (and of Facebook too..add me, SweetSherri if you haven't already)? I haven't been for a few years and would love to go. My follow-up isn't until Dec 27th..so if someone is going this coming week, please ask & post if no one has yet. I was looking in past years posts and although it is usually the first Tuesday in December, I did see one year that it was Nov. 30th.
Thanks!

He was my surgeon too......the biggest mistake I ever made! I don't think my body will ever be right again. But I'm interested in why they don't recommend him either.
I am not sure about the sleeve but they cover RNY
I am 10 months out from surgery and have reached my goal. I have 20+ years in fashion industry. I worked for 10 years in NYC in the fashion industry and I have an incredible sense of style. One thing I have noticed is that a lot of people, after having WLS, do not understand how to dress their new bodies or continue to dress like they are still overweight.
If you are in the Indianapolis area or are willing to come to Indianapolis, I am offering my services to teach you how to dress your new body type, teach you how to shop, update you on current trends or styles, etc. There are alot of post surgery helps, but this seems to be one area that is missing. The way you dress greatly affects your self esteem and you only get 1 chance to make a 1st impression. Despite what many people think, how you dress, the way your clothes fit, and your overall appearance can make or break you.
If you would like help in this area, please inbox me.
