Topic: RE: Dr Jones- lap band?
I was at my support group the other nite and the leader asked how many would do the rny over again? Nearly all said they would, with the exception of one woman who was 2 months out.  After much discussion, it was obvious she was in a grieving period of missing foods she used to eat.  And another lady told her it was normal, that she herself had gone thru it, and it would get better.  But it really scared me because even now, presurgery, I find myself grieving and afraid about not eating as I do now.  It literally brings me to tears.  But, on the other hand, I know I must have this surgery for a longer life.  It's just scary and I'm sure you can all relate to feeling like this at times before your surgery date.  And, I also know that it's more likely you will lose all your weight with the rny and with the lap band only a percentage.  I've made my decision, but still get scared and worried.  I believe God has a plan for me and He knows what it is.  What is supposed to happen will happen.  So I try not to worry and tell myself to just go with the flow.  Thank you all for your advice!!!  Sincerely, Laura

If you like the taste of them and will chew them.. they will hep rather than hurt... Thats why they put them on your list.. Personlly I couldnt get past the smell of the bottle.. so I crushed regular vitamins.. then broke them up.. then split them in half until the day I could take the whole thing...  WHATEVER you can live the rest of your life doing...

I was so bad that now I have to take shots and perscriptions...

The pre-op class gives you detailed instructions on the different phases after your surgery.... liquid phase, soft food phase....

Vitamin regimine, protein requirements, etc.  It's a long day but very helpful.  I did mine 3 years ago.....it's education not testing.  I don't think they've changed  it so I believe your pre-op testing will be a seperate appointment actually at the hosptial.

Good luck with your surgery.  You're in excellent hands with Dr. Mattar.  He did mine 3 years ago (RNY) and it's been terrific!

I use Bariatric Advantage as it is formulated specifically for bariatric patients.  These can be purchased from St. Vincent's Bariatric Center or through BariatricEating.com.

I see you're set for surgery next month.  Don't buy large quantities because what you like before surgery might not be what you like afterwards.

Immediately post op I lived on the big glass bottles of Isopure.  (I got them at GNC).  They gave me this at Clarian North while still in the hospital.  40 grams in a bottle, and protein is critical post op.

I'm almost 3 years out and I still use Unjury.  You can order a few samples from them to see what you like.  I like to mix different fruit flavors into the vanilla one but it might be a while before you're ready for mixing anything extra in there.  I like the vanilla & chocolate best.  Strawberry is okay... but I did not like the chicken broth one...

Good luck on your surgery!  It's a wild ride!

I am going to Dr. Jones for the RNY as well although I initially thought I would want the band. Like the PP after learning a bit about myself, and the two choices I am chosing the Rny.

AS JL said you have to do what is right for you. Good luck!

i have been checkin around for vitamins and i think im gonna go nuts. i been thinkin that i would like to use a different vitamin than the flintstones chewables. i just think that since we are gettin most of our vitamins through supplements i would rather trust a better vitamin than a childrens chewable. does anyone have any advice on this or am i just overthinkin it?
