Do you think that some of the tooth issues are from lack of nutrients?  I see where there is all kinds of work that must be done to ensure supplements are taken, etc. ...

Just trying to figure everything out ...

THank you!

Topic: A Heartfelt Thanksgiving..
Here is something I shared at support group the other night and thought it would be a good post!  This is a way to remind our selves to stay focused during the holiday season!

Keep your own "GRATEFUL" front and center in your life!
Good – it is easy to focus on the negative. When a situation occurs that appears negative, ask yourself “What is something good that I might have missed and can take away for myself?"   Reach Out- Help someone else. It can be a family member, a friend or supporting a WLS friend. Not only will you help another person but reaching out makes you feel good.   Attitude – Do you have an attitude of gratitude? Do you ever slow down enough to notice all the blessings in your life? Focus on three things from every day that you are grateful for. Keep a gratitude journal list.   Time – Value your time. Make the most of everyday. Don’t take your time for granted. Fill your days in a meaningful way.   Enthusiasm – Live your life with zest. Being enthusiastic about your day is a powerful way to be grateful.   Fun – When was the last time you had fun? Fun is important in order for you to feel grateful. Regularly schedule some fun.   Unusual – Do you do the same old same old each and every day? Life has many cool things available, so why die the daily death of “I’ve always done it this way before?"   Live full out – Want to feel very grateful this time next year and most days in between? Then live full out. Let it rip!

I along with several of my family members have had various kinds of WLS.  We have had a few complications but none of them would have changed our minds.  The only complications I am having (2 yrs out) is that my teeth are losing their old fillings and I am needing to get dental work done alot.  Is it possible that teeth lose weight too?  LOL  I am not sure why it is happening like that but my sister experienced it too.

Other than that, no real bad issues at all.  Just the normal this and that which comes along with other medical conditions.  As for the surgery itself,  I love my RNY  and I would do it all over again only sooner!!!  LOL

Good luck to you and hope you find the answers you seek.

I go in at 6 AM tomorrow for my tummy tuck and hernia repair.(Dr. Bergman and Dr. Cacucci)  I am excited and a little nervous at the same time!  Having a 4 month old and not being able to pick her up for a while is going to be stressful!

Wish me luck!

Kim

PS. If you have had aTT I would love any advice from your experience.

Sue, It's good to hear from you!  I am trying to get things back to normal.  I have battled with depression since losing my father in May but hopefully will get back on the track of a normal lifestyle.  I have maintained my weight within about 6 lbs and I too, think my body might be settled in after 2 yrs post op.

Thanks for the comments and hope to hear from more "losers" too.  :)

I didn't think it would ever happen, but it's true! Have both insurance approvals and now scheduled for my Preop class Dec 3, preop testing Dec 6, and RNY Jan 14th!  What a trip it's been!  Thank you to everyone and anyone who ever helped me with my decision between lap band and rny, all my questions, and the great information you've so freely given!  God Bless!  Laura

Topic: RE: Considering surgery - many complications??
Hi Theresa,  I started contemplating surgery back in July of 09.  Went to the seminar and surgeon consult in Oct 09.  Had to do a 6 month diet/exercise program required by insurance.  Then when I finished all of my requirements I was on the fence between having the lap band or the rny.  It took me probably 6 more months and another consult with a lap band surgeon and LOTS AND LOTS of researching and reading before I decided on the rny.  I now have my surgery scheduled.  But, I would very highly recommend reading all you can and really surfing the various bariatric forums.  Like any surgery (wisdom teeth, root canals, etc.) you will always hear horror stories.  People love to tell their scary stories!  But, seriously, read and learn all you  can and attend some support groups and talk to people face to face about their experiences.  Good luck!  Sincerely, Laura
