HI Terry,  Sorry to hear about your sinusitis and bronchitis.  That is a real bummer.   After my Milk of Mag incident, I've only used a few stool softeners now and then.  I'm more regular now than before the surgery.  I've used Miralax for years so I'll try that if I have too.

I'm feeling really great.  We have the tree up and all the grandkids presents wrapped.  This year, I ordered everything on-line in my pajamas on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  I can't stand Christmas shopping and standing in lines.

I've lost a little over 10 now and I'm a little over 2 weeks but I am happy with it.  We joined a Health Club Wednesday and I'm up to 30 minutes on the treadmill and then walk around the track some.

Hope you feel better real soon.  Pam

Thanks Christy,  You've done a great job with your surgery.  I know it is a process and I know I'll get to my goals too.   Pam

HI!  No I didn't know she was a Trauma ER doctor for 13 years but I had heard she was the best.  She is a wonderful surgeon.  I went to St. Vincents and can't say enough about them so I can't comment on Clarian.  I'm sure they do a super job.

I lost 90 pounds 10 years ago with Weigh****chers and exercise (not since the surgery). I put above my signature, top weight 358, surgery weight 288.  I just kept gaining and losing the same 20 pounds over and over for 10 years.  So at the surgery I was at 70 pounds off.  The difference between 358 and 288 is huge.  I always say that no one knows what it is like to be super morbidly obese unless you've been there.  It's just a whole other world of problems.  Once I got under 300 pounds life got a lot easier.

I'm just a little over 2 weeks out today and I've lost a little over 10 pounds.  So nothing huge but I am happy with it.  I really don't want to lose tons of weight really fast.  I'll be happy with a steady  loss of 10 - 15 pounds a month.  My goal is more about health.

I've been really blessed that I have  pretty much breezed thru this recovery.  I can easily get in 90 proteins and 65 fluids a day and eat everything I've tried on the plan.  I am retired so it is easy for me to make things to eat and drink whenever I want.

Good luck on your surgery.  I'm sure if Dr. Inman said you could have the surgery with your blood condition, it will be ok.  Blessings, Pam

Ms. Pam!

How wonderful!! I have Dr. Inman too, surgery (Sleeve) date is Jan 27th! I'm so nervous about how the staff will be @ Clarian Carmel but I cant say enough great things about Dr. Inman. I have a low platelet disorder and feel like she's gonna be the best surgeon for someone who's blood doesn't clot--- did you know she was a Trauma ER doctor for 13 years? For sure someone I want on my side during a scary surgery like this. Do you feel, physically, better since loosing the weight? 78 pounds is a LOT of weight to drop that quick--- you must feel some changes already? So excited for you!!! :)

Topic: I got approved in 9 days by Medicaid/Anthem Hoosier Health for Dr Inman to do the Sleeve.
Oh my gosh! Its finally real to me. I got Medicaid (Anthem Hoosier healthwise) to approve whats considered a "experimental" surgery to other insurance companies to approve the Sleeve operation. In 9 days! What a wonderful surprise to come home to after the holidays!!!! I'm so excited & have a surgery date of 1/27/11. I can't believe its finally gonna happen. 1st request and I'm approved... I feel so unworthy of this. I can't imagine what life will be like afterwards!! <3 <3 <3

Glowing right now!!

Congrats! I am going through Clarion. Who is your doctor? I haven't been scheduled yet, but I'm curious as to their wait time.

Oh, on a side note.  Be sure to spend some time on the plastics forum here on OH.  Reading others storys is great.  I should have spent more time there before my surgery as I am not sure I was 100% prepared for the recovery process.

Go back to the basics you had at the begining of your surgery. Measure your food, drink lots of liquids, no caffine or refined sugars, get up and move, food journal. It will be tough at first but you'll get back in the swing of things before you know it & the weight will start coming back off. I'm five yrs out & I still eat off a toddler plate... I even take it w/me when I go out to eat. I even use a toddler size fork so that I don't take to big of bites that I can't chew down all the way. Just go back to your basics whenever in doubt!

Topic: RE: Has anyone used Turkle & Associates
I went to Turkle & Assoc just to check them out. I felt like I was just another patient to them. Processed cattle. It was really awkward. And even though I pointed out that my insurance would pay for the visit & the operation, they charged me $50 for that appt & then told me that if I wanted insurance to cover the the surgery I would have to file my own paper work & do everything on my own. On advice from another wls'er on here I went to Dr Bergman (just literally down the street from Turkles) and her office stafe & self was amazing. They filed all my insurance paperwork. Dr Bergman herself was great at explaining to me what she could do under the guidelines of what the insurance would pay for. She listened to my concerns. And she also went out of her way to look after me post op because I had surgery literally after ending chemo & radiation therapy for cancer(which makes your immune system lowered & makes it harder for incisions to heal correctly). I'm in love with the results I got from my surgery with Dr Bergman. She's an amazing gifted doctor. So whenever anyone asks me about plastics I immediately vote for Dr Bergman.
