Welcome & Congrats on the surgery date! I also go to Dr. E, but I am still waiting on approval from Clarion North. I am sure they will cover ALL of your questions during your pre-op class before surgery, make sure to write everything down you want to ask so you don't forget. Good luck!

Topic: Newbie!

Hello everyone!! I'm new to the forum! I just received my approval yesterday for rny. I'm so excited and a bit nervous. They have scheduled it for Feb. 15th. I have a few questions that I'm sure have been asked before. Does Dr. Evanson require a 2 week diet prior to surgery? Will I have a cathater when I wake up? Can my husband stay with me?

I'm so excited about my new journey!

Exactly, I called insurance on Friday, they hadn't received anything from Clarion yet, I called the office insurance & was directed to voicemail, they still haven't called me back. I will be calling them again in the morning.

You should hear something soon but I will say.. the loudest dog will be heard-- meaning: Stay on top of things. call the insurance company to see if its been approved. Call the insurance dept @ the office to make sure they do their part. Make sure you dont just sit back and trust that "someone will do it" because you'll be waiting forever.

Sherri-- Please keep us posted. Dr. Inman is in w/them and I've having my Sleeve surgery done @ Clarian North. My surgery was approved on 12/2 so I hope I'll get a call this week!! Please let me know what all is done on the pre-op surgery testing and how the classes go. Good luck!

Good to know about Dr. Bergman!!! My doctor, Dr. Mary Lester is 317-278-7925. She is in her 3rd trimester so she will be on leave soon till the 1st week of April I believe. 1st of Feb till April. Just an FYI. Yes, if you can prove that there's medical issues as previously stated, you can get it these surgeries approved. They don;t want you to know these things but read the policy online. Google is amazing!

Your safest bet for the correct answer is to just call your insurance company & ask them directly. Not everyone that has BC/BS of Michigan will have the same plan as you because each employer contracts with the insurance company what specifics in each plan will be available for their employees. So if your never sure what your plan specifically covers just call them up. That's what their customer service reps are there for.
