Hi all!

It's great to see you posting and reaching out to your WLS friends.  I know many of us have struggles throughout our journey and it's tough but try to picture it as a small road bump for now.   If you can keep your thoughts positive and remind yourself why you chose this journey in the first place.

It is a great idea to journal if you don't mind doing it.. Don't forget you can also do a lot on the Internet if you prefer to type instead of write.  Sparkpeople.com, fitday.com etc.. these are some great places for recipes also.  My dietitian always says "If you bite it, write it"!

One thing that works for me is positive affirmations/quotes etc.  If you are on Facebook I have a page that I post to daily with these type of quotes/articles/posts etc..  They are about life in general along with weight loss and my hope is those words touch someones life daily.  Its under Bariatric Life Coach Association.

I won't "kick you in the head" perhaps but I'm here to offer my experience, encouraging words and well maybe a kick when needed!  :)  I'm 3 years post op and happy to help you in anyway possible.  You can always send me a message behind the scenes as well.

Not sure where you are located but do you have access to a support group in your area?  I recently started one in my home town because I don't have any in the immediate area. That might be a thought for you if you would be interested?

Another idea for you is to sit down and make some goals, short and long term and then ask yourself what steps do I need to take to achieve these goals?

I have other resources if you are interested!  Send me a note through OH or email at
[email protected].

Hope this helps!

Topic: weight up and down???
Merry Christmas to everyone! I had my surgery on December 15th. I started at 252 lost to 242 pre-op then came out of the hospital at 260 Yikes!  The thing is a few days ago I weighted in at 231 but now I haven't been down to that since? Seems I just keep going up and down. I weigh in the same time (first thing in the morning) . Sooo I don't know what the deal is.............Anybody else have the same issues. Karol

It's a struggle for all of us. Like it or not, we are addicts.  I too am up 10 pounds.  We have to get back on track, and like was suggested...measure, write and keep track of exercise.....we can do it!   You are not alone...hang in there.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and soon to enjoy a very happy New Year. I use Sunday of each week to weigh myself because I only weigh one time a week because I could be obsessed with what the scale is showing me. My clothes have started feeling a little snugger so I know they are showing me I have had larger portions, one bite too many, and so on. So this morning was a real dose of reality. I could just lie to myself and tell me that that ham yesterday was very salty and it is water weight but that would be a lie. I have found I am more tolerent of sweets and I have a true passion for them. I can't seem to get things sweet enough. So now I am really paying for my dietary indescretions the last few weeks. Time to get a reality check and stop this behavior before I put more back on. I did not have this surgery to let myself relapse back to what I was before. If anyone else is in this same situation I am I  wish you good luck in your struggle. I know it is going to be an uphill battle for me to take back off those 10-15 pounds that have crept back on since the middle of 2010. I went on vacation in July 2010 and was very proud of myself for maintaining. I know it was because we were on a shoestring budget and packed salads in an ice chest for each day of travels, making portion control the top of my list, exercising whenever I could. I still exercise at least 5 days a week but find I am using that as an excuse for the extra bite in the last 6-8 weeks and the scales are reflecting my stupid thoughts. It's time to get back on the plan that was set out for me 3 1/2 years ago and not let this go any further.

I am looking at DS, the only Dr that performs in in my state told me that she normally does not do it on anyone over 60, I am 63. She has not told me no yet but I need to go on a 6 month Dr supervised weoight loss program and then get approval. After that they will consider me........

Well i never received a call back from the ins. dept @ clarion. I have called 2x & both times said would return my call within 24 hrs. Medicaid said that I had to refer to my provider & that it normally takes the min of 30 days to get approved, I was like "really someone else I know of was approved in 9 days" so apparently clarion hasn't sent my info over which really makes me upset. I have an appt with the dietician on the 22nd, & I want answers! I am supposed to be @ consult weight of 335lbs, but I was 347 last time & I know I will either be the same or more bc of being sick & unable to exercise. Its like no matter what I eat on the liver reduction diet I still gain. I pray it doesn't take until March to get my surgery. Ugh. Let me know if you hear anything changes for you!

Yeah I got a call from Heather Glenn (she does the scheduling for their office) and she informed me that she got my file last monday (Dec 13th) and that she will be calling me in the next 2-3 wks w/my preop class, preop testing and surgery dates. To expect it will be sometime in march. Im so upset. I cant believe it takes THIS long to get things done and get to the OR. Meanwhile, I'm gaining weight for some reason and I am about 85% on this preop diet. I have no idea why either. I'm starting to get frustrated.
