Topic: doing it without surgery
i don't know how many of you all have tried to do the weight loss thing without surgery and succeeded. (ok that sounds bad! but I feel a little left out not getting the surgery and would love some support )

i was on track with NUT and DR to get the surgery (the sleeve), then lost my insurance and had to go it alone. My gyno found that I had PCOS and prescribed metphormin and I lost 40 lbs in the first 2 months,(with exercise) that's when my DR said she would rather I try it one more time before going under the knife. I also didn't have enough co-morbidities she said. As I said I was trekking along, lost 40 lbs then in Oct of last year just kinda gave up going to the gym (at first there were things preventing me from having the time), then didn't care what I ate; got depressed and thank Heavens only put on 3lbs in the past 3 months. I am back in the gym as of 3 days ago, I go 5 days a week for an hour a day. although I don't feel like I push myself hard enough because I am never in pain, rarely sore. I have gone back on the low calorie diet but again started to feel discouraged because more of my friends are having the surgery. I made them during the time I was going to get it and its great they are getting their lives on course. I am happy for them but in a secret part of me I am harboring the green eyed monster. My own mother wants to have the surgery, and was concerned that I would be upset.

I would love to have a support group, if you all will take me. I wont lose as fast as you , but i promise not to rub it in when I can have my cake (literally) and eat it too.

Topic: RE: Approved FINALLY!!!!!!
Thanks, but now I need lots of prayers! I received a letter from insurance saying they are canceling me on 1/31/11 & if I don't have surgery this month that they won't pay for it. I've been calling the Meridian Surg Office trying to get ahold of Heather to try to schedule everything this month, so far no call back but Clarion emailed her & Dr. E about the situation, so I am praying for a miracle & hoping they help me.

Congratulations!  I had my sleeve done on 4/29 and I've lost over 100 pounds.  I am excited for you! I haven't really seen anyone else on the Indiana boards who has had the procedure, so I haven't really been active much on the site, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Topic: RE: Happy New Year to All
Awww thanks for saying so. All I know is that I will be 50 yrs old this year and have been catholic all of my life and I just NOW got it. I just realized what its all about. That feeling is amazing and I actually have to be careful not to turn people off around me because I am so positively charged with the Holy Spirit and I need to channel it carefully so as not to turn people away ya know. If I have touched your heart then you alone are enough to make it worth it to me. I just know that all I want to do now is "Pay it all Forward". And to have my love, my husband and life partner walking that same walk with me makes me that much more blessed!!
Thank you for saying so, it means a lot to me.
God Bless :)
Be Well  : )

I just scheduled my tests, going to take all morning.  I have to have upper GI, urine, blood draw, meet with doc, and I don't remember what else she said.

I never really talked with the office about insurance stuff, it was always a person from the insurance team.

The gal who called to remind me of class said it should end around 2, and we got finished at 1:30, but we were a small class that didn't ask questions.  And I haven't had my pre-op testing yet.  I need to check my voice mail because I haven't heard from them yet.

Never back down, never surrender!  :)

Thanks for your message Jen. I feel like I've turned into a stalker since I posted the comment yesterday. I've called Dr. Evanson's office at least 10 times, and I've called the insurance company around 20 times!!!  To me, what's frustrating is that you never get the same answer. I've been told so many different things by the insurance company, and Dr. E's office, I think I'm going to go nuts!! Was your pre-op class all day? I was told that it runs from 8:30-4:30. Also, did you have to do alot of pre-op testing? I'm curious about what that involves.

I hope that I've annoyed everyone so much that now they have to return my calls. By now, they are probably calling me the "crazy lady".  lol

Good luck on your surgery.

Topic: Introductions
Hello!

I've been here and there on the VSG board, but have not made my way here (at least not that I can remember).  My surgery is scheduled for 1/19 and I'm pretty excited.  I'm hoping it will help with my symptoms for a rare chronic illness, but even if it doesn't, I figure it will help my health in the long run.

Thanks for being awesome, everyone!  And here's to a better year!
