Dr. Caccuci's pre-op requirements?
Sam, Im still pre Op but dr cacucci is my dr and if Im correct she has u do clear liq the first day and progress to full liq for the first 1-2 weeks. And you build up from there. Provided you are healing and with no other complications. I hope this helps till someone else answers u with more experience

Hey, That would be great. We could all meet in New Castle. That is probably pretty close to being in the middle. I am still waiting on one of my Drs to send me the weights he has over the last 18 months. Then Im hoping by the end of the week to get this all sent off to Anthem. I want to have this surgery like tomorrow. Funny how when I make up my mind how impatient I can be.....lol. Been heavy all my life but finally reached a point that I dont want to be like this.
I kinda know what Scott is going thru. Except I dont smoke. I reach for the chocolate.

Sam, I just read your profile and the reason we have the same insurance is becouse we both work for the state...lol. I wish I had done this when I was younger you are so smart doing this now, rather than waiting till your wt gets totally out of control. I wish I had done mine yrs ago. Im 42, my husband and I also have a 4 legged child. Her name is Annie, I rescued her from our local help shelter for my husband before we got married.
BTW...many moons ago (telling my age again) I used to have an album by a Samantha Fox. Is that your real name?
Too funny!! I enjoyed my State Holiday yesterday! Do you work at the SOF or one of the local offices?
The main reason I want to have this surgery isn't so I can wear mini skirts or anything like that (although I'm sure my boyfriend wouldn't object,) but rather I want to be a mom and I don't feel like I can reach my full potential as a mother at this size. I wouldn't be able to give my child or children everything I have and everything they deserve in a mother.
Anywho, yes Samantha Fox is my real name. I was born before she got famous though!! A deli I go to downtown, the guy who runs it is originally from Pakistan and he always tells me he had a poster of Samantha Fox in his room as a kid. So, he always remembers my name.

Sam,
Dr. Cacucci, Dr. Gupta, and Dr. Jones all follow the same dietary post-op plan. I had Dr. Gupta. I really don't remember what I had the day of my surgery other than sips of Crystal Light and water. From the next day on though it was full liquids for 6 weeks...meaning, pudding/instant mashed potato constency. Although I'm almost 2 yrs post-op, I did see that according to the yellow sheets posted at WLSIndy, that hasn't changed. Pre-op, you will have a dietary pre-op day. You will be given a set of yellow sheets that outline what you can have..and when. Rule of thumb is if it isn't on the yellow sheet, don't have it. BUT...not everyone can have everything that is on the yellow sheets..or not when it says it's allowed. You just have to take it slow and see what your tummy can handle.

Hello!
I had Dr. Caccuci, and I love to sing praises about her work!
There is no liquid diet before surgery, I was kind of surprised myself. The day before surgery you're able to eat a normal breakfast (I didn't, I skipped it as usual), for lunch it is the modified liquid diet- the pudding, instant taters, that kind of thing, and dinner is clear liquids, with nothing to eat or drink after midinight. The day of surgery I only had ice chips, not that you'll feel like eating anything anyway- I PROMISE you won't be hungry when you wake up. You'll mainly want the ice chips just because your mouth will be dry. The day after surgery I started the modified liquid diet. They bring you these TINY cups of food on a severing plate with a doily, it's kind of funny. Even tho the portion is about the size of a cup of ketchup at McDonalds, I didn't finish a single meal there. I found the peaches tasted INCREDIBLY sweet, and you don't want my opinion on the oatmeal. The next day they started me on protein shakes, I didn't finish a single one of those either. That night I can remember asking for a sugar free popcicle (which is still my favorite thing), and laying in bed after my visitors had left gumming away on that orange popcicle watching survivor. I had a GREAT hspital experience. There was a little nausea, but it was actually caused by pain, and when they would give me my magic shot, the nausea went away too. The best thing I can tell you is to walk walk walk! I walked about 4.5 miles in the hospital, and I didn't take a single does of pain meds when I got home. I really couldn't have asked for surgery to go any better than it did.
Hope that helps you out!
