Hello to all; I have been reading profiles on this site for a few months, and find it to be a big help. I am in the beginning stages of qualifiying for surgery at the St Mary's Bariatric Center in Evansville. It would be with Dr Troop. So far, I like them there very much. I would be interested in hearing from others who had their surgery there. I have thought about doing this for a long time, and now, at age 61, know that it now or never. Like most others, I have tried every other method to lose weight, and I have spent thousands of dollars on every plan, pill, gimmick, etc. And I still weigh more than I ever have now, and it is greatly affecting my activities. I have spoken to a few people on the post-op side, and so far, I have never found anyone who says they would go back and not do it. However, I am still scared of this decision, from the surgery itself to not being able to enjoy eating for the rest of my life. I have never had any type of medical prodedure in my life, and so I am terrified of that. And, despite what others have said, I still can't believe I won't feel deprived about eating later, especially on holidays, other special occasions. According to my insurance, I have to do a monitored program for 6 months before they would consider me for approval, and it has been about a month so far. So I have all summer to prepare myself mentally and physically for this. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

I just had my 1 year re=birthday and I eat anything I want... the thing is after loosing so much and finally having a life again I find I don't want all that I did before.. I LIKE being smaller than I WAS. I found it fun going out to Reb Lobster last night and eatting 5 shrimp. couple bites of mashed potatoes and a couple forkfulls of salad.. Hubby got the admirals platter and I ate from his choices... he also had an appitizer and clam chowder...but we brought food home... My sister had surgery 5 years ago.. I wasnt ready for it until Last April.. If it is your time you will know... The only thing I regret is not doing it sooner!!! Linda
