I have my 1 yr appt on Monday and will be meeting with her for the first time; I had Dr. Gupta and now have Dr. Cacucci.  I met her once when I was in the hospital for complications and she was on call.  What can I expect?  Does anyone know her?  What happens on the 1 yr appointment?  Any advice would be helpful.  Thanks...

My daughter and I both had Dr. Cacucci from day one and we are both totally happy with her.  She was recommended by a friend of my daughter.  All 3 of us have had great results.  I will not be 1 year until December, so I can't help you on that 1 year appointment.   I saw Dr. Gupta once and did not like her.

I got switched over too from Dr. Gupta to Dr. Cacucci. I like Dr. Cacucci well enough but I sure do miss Dr. Gupta. We've had alot of history together. I think the two have similar personalities but my impression of Dr. Cacucci is that she isn't as straight-forward as Dr. Gupta (which...that could be a turn-off for Dr. Gupta but given all the complications I have had and continue to have, I very much appreciated that..and miss it already).

I saw Dr. Cacucci for a follow-up on my stomach (the last surgery Dr. Gupta did on me) the beginning of September. She wa suppose to get back with me "within a week or so" with a decision as to what to do. I'm still waiting. I've contacted her nurse several times and I just keep being told that my file is on her desk. Although my 5 yr was on 9/17, my 5 yr follow-up is Nov. 9th. I'm REALLY hoping for an answer then. When my stomach stumped Dr. Gupta, she sent me to other doctors including IU and Mayo Clinic. I amt trying to be patient because I know that alot has happened to me in the past 5 years, and much of it in the past 2..so Dr. Cacucci does have ALOT of reading to catch up on my complex situation. So...I am trying to hold off on getting too ticked. I know though if nothing is decided by Nov. 9th, I'll be seeking a different bariatric surgeon. Since she had seen me a month plus ago, the one hernia has gotten huge and two more hernia's have formed. And yes, her nurse was made aware of those. Something definately has to be done and preferably before my entire abdominal wall is shredded to peices with hernia's.

For your follow-up...you see the nuts first. They have you fill out a sheet that pretty much just tells what you've been eating/drinking and if you've had any problems. When they call you back, they weigh you. I think at the one year, they also measure you and take your picture. Then they talk with you to see if you've had any issues. They'll write their recommendations down and give you two copies (one for you, one for Dr. Cacucci's office).  If you've lost over 100 lb, they'll give you a t-shirt (I think they are still doing that anyway). Then you go to Dr. Cacucci's. You'll give them their copy of the nut paper. They'll weigh you. And then you are pretty much repeating what you did in the nut office...seeing if you've had any problems and them make any recommendations. Then you are good to go. They'll set you up with your next follow-up. After you leave there, stop by the nut office and set up your next follow-up with them as well...which will be ~1/2 hour or so before your next appt with Dr. Cacucci's office. That's it. The routine bloodwork is the only testing you'll need unless you are having problems. That's hpw every one of my follow-ups have been.

She is very business like..I love her.. But the minute there is complications she is ON THE BALL!! She is the one I want in my corner. she did my surgery and did my scope and had to go back in and do a few adjustments but she is the one I want in my corner if I get a problem!!

Dr. Diaz did my RNY, but I had Dr. Cacucci for my endoscopes.  She seemed very nice, but I don't really remember much!  lol

I just met with Dr. Cacucci and she was very nice.  She was friendly, informative and direct (which I like a lot).  She answered my questions and I will see her again in 6 months.  In the meantime, my labs looked good and only my potassium was low.  So I have to get more blood work done in a month to see if it improves.  The best part was she gave a goal weight range; something no one else seems to be willing to do.  I like her.
