surgery is done!
Hey y'all surgery was Weds and I am surprisingly feeling much better than I thought I would. The pain is not bad at all and so far as long as I sip sip sip...no nausea.
Seems like right now I get tired easily and seems like all my attention is focused on...am I getting all my protein, am I taking enough liquids, have I taken ll the meds I am supposed to, but it's early days yet so I imagine part of that will pass with time.
Going to try to walk the block tomorrow and try to get back to some exercising.
Overall I am truly amazed that this all went so smoothly and that I feel this good. The only complaint I have is that the liquid Lortab is NASTY but I have been mixing with some juice and that helps a bit.

Vanessa,
Congrats and welcome to the losing side.
You're right. Loratab is yuck! I know Linda Kay always mixed hers too. Myself, I asked the pharmacist to add flavoring to it. It's the best $2.99 a bottle I ever spent! LOL!
It seems like those of us who expected the worse pain...really, experienced very little. Those who thought it'd be a walk in the park, had to be reminded by their nurses that of course it hurts, surgeries tend to do that. It's amazing what mind preparation can do!
I'd like to invite you to read my profile. I have a section geared for new post-ops that you might find useful. I also have many recipes on it to help you get a little creative with that 'allowed' list.
I hope you can make it to the clothing exchange!

I have been waiting to see how you were doing! Did you get the VIP room at the end of the hall? They promised me they would have it cleaned and ready for when you came up from recovery. It was so nice to be at the end of the hall in that big room. I have felt so much better the last couple days. I am still not getting in enough water/protein, but it is getting better by the day. I agree about the liquid Lohrtab. Worked better for me than the morphine, but so nasty. Good luck to you!
I did get the VIP room :). It was HUGE and very nice. Glad you're doing well too. Today is the first bad day I've had. Slightly nauseous today and just overall not feeling as well. So stepped back to clear liquids and my protein shake and will try again. Still gonna try to take a walk this afternoon.
Thanks for all the well wishes!
