Ok...I have reached the point to where my skin is itchy especially the stretch mark areas. I get plenty of water but still seem to be dry. If anyone out there has experienced this what did you do? What worked for you?

I appreciate the help!!

Hi Kristie,

Are you still on the gallstone preventative medicine (I think it is called Actagall sp?)?  If so, one of the side effects is itching.  I itched so bad I could hardly stand it.  Try buying Eucerin Anti Itch lotion.  It can really help.  Good luck.

Kristie,

I used Aveeno anti-inch cream for a couple of months after I had my surgery because the "binder" drove me crazy - finally got smart and wore a tank top under the binder.

Hope this helps!!

Kristie,

I had the same problem and was also getting plenty of water.  My "nut" told me I was not getting enough fat due to the fact I was taking in so much protein.  She recommended trying fish oil pills, their huge capsules but I can take them w/ no problems.  I always take around the mid point between meals.  This helped me some along w/ some foods that your "nut" can advise for you to also help.  Contact them and ask what types of foods wood be good for you to help w/ the dry skin.  I hope this helps you it can be very irritating to say the least.  Good luck !

Also, get you a good body cream to use especially on the worst spots. Hydrating your skin on the outside will help as well as getting enough water. Jamie was right about the fats, some fats are good. I take a prescription Omega pill. It's supposed to be the better form than just over the counter stuff. I was taking that and I started when my skin and hair seemed so dry. Actually it was at 4 months out when I started losing my hair. I have no probs now at all but, I also use a body cream from Avon. I sell Avon so, I have access to a lot of information on products and I believe in Avon's product line. There are so many products out there that some are better than others but, they are all expensive and so, I stick with my reasonable priced stuff. I've really noticed a difference on my neck area. The wrinkles are going away and I've even been using it on my legs. My legs get real dry, especially with shaving. So, just make sure you regularly use some kind of lotion. An oatmeal based one is the best for dry skin.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I am going to try to make sure to get a good hydrating lotion.  The dr told me this would pass but that is not an answer I wanted to hear because it does not help with the itching now. I am also going to contact my "nut" and see what she recommends because this is unbearable. Many years ago when I went on a diet and cut out fats, I lost my hair and had extremely dry skin. I nearly went nuts until I added fat back in...I realize now this is what is happening again.

Much good wishes and blessings to you all!!!!

By the way...I need an Avon book!
