About 15 years ago when I lived in Fairview (Clinton), I had to have a new septic put in. At least it was the fall so the mess wasn't too bad to deal with. It would had been far worse in the summer since it was in the back yard...as was our pool. About 2 years later, we were required by the city to pay to have the city sewer installed. Grrrrr! That was a very expensive few years!! ....And then I got divorced, met Bill, and moved to Indy. Hmmmm...$$ well spent huh? I didn't even get enough to cover the house loan when I sold it. Oh...and get this....they added the estimated property taxes onto 'MY' portion for two years. Each of those years, the estimation was $3-500 more than the actual. The difference? They sent it to the BUYER of the house on the trust system that they would send it to me. NOPE! The idiots in Newport just couldn't believe that anyone would be so dishonest as to keep the check...even though they were dumb enough to make the check out to the buyers! Well hell yeah, they kept it! It was made out to them so they assumed it was theirs...and refused to even talk to me about it (the buyers that is). The only recourse I had would have been to get a lawyer and sue them. I said 'good riddance' to the town instead.
