angry and disappointed today
I have worked myself to death...eaten what I am supposed to at 7 weeks post op and have not lost anything in two weeks. I have lost 37 lbs since surgery and figured it would be way more than that. I am not a happy camper so to speak right now and feel so down and discouraged.
I had to vent somewhere! Ty for letting me.

Kristie,
That's normal! You may stay at the weight you are for a couple of weeks then drop 10 lbs. It's part of the process and you'll hit little "stops" like this along the way. It's ok. Don't be discourage - you've already dropped 37 lbs - in less than 2 months - some people would KILL to do that!! Keep your head up girlfriend - you've got no where else to go but

Hon, it's normal. Your body needs time to catch up. It happens to us all. It also happens on an ongoing basis - at least it does for me. I've bounced back and forth between 202-209 for 3 weeks now! Grrrr!! I have to laugh though - I get so impatient. Your body is adjusting, and it will start losing again. Sometimes during a stall, take your measurements. You may still be losing inches.
Don't be discouraged!!
Don't be discouraged!!
As everyone has already said, these stalls happen to us all. I had one around 3 weeks post op and then again at about 6-7 weeks. Your body is still in shock. Don't give up. You will begin to lose weight again! I promise.

Kristie,
You don't need yet another person to say that this is normal (which it is)...but I did want to tell you that I think you are doing fantastic. If you haven't lost anything for 2 weeks, that means you lost 37 pounds in 5 weeks!! That is ~1 pound per DAY! How great is that????
You will find that you'll have these little delays. I always counted them as times that my body was trying to breathe and catch up! You may think that YOU are doing all the hard work to loose that weight but in actuality, it is your body that is working at it....even when you're sleeping. So...be a good boss and let it have it's down-time...k? If you go too scale-nuts, you may even obsess over little normal fluctuations because of drinking water, having your mentral, not having a bowel movement yet. It's that kind of obsessiveness that caused each of our 'diets' to go downhill before we ever gave them a chance to become a lifestyle change. We'd get worried..then we'd give up ('Well! If it's not doing any good anyway, why bother!'...sound familiar?).
What I would really recommend is that you keep track of your weight (I do mine in excel). Don't only enter your weight though, enter anything that you think could have affected it.....no BM, PMS'ing, clothes on/off, lousy sleep (this really does affect your weight big time!), did/did not get alot of water/protein/exercise in. After a month or two, you should see a pattern emerging and some common things that help..or hinder your weight loss. Don't try to avoid all the things that hinder it. There's not alot a woman can do to avoid her period. Instead, use it to understand how your weight is affected. For me, no BM or a bad night sleep can make my weight increase by 3-5 pounds. I know this now so I'm not going to get too upset if I wake up at 1 AM and can't go back to sleep and I see that scale number increased. That's just the way my body is.
BTW...track your measurements too. There will be times that you will lose no pounds, but your clothes are falling off of you. That is when you are loosing inches, loosing fat...but gaining muscle. That's a good thing! Remember, it is NOT all about the scale! What good is it to say I loss 100 pounds if I'm wearing the same size???
Cheers! You'll be a happy camper again very soon!

Hi,
I just wanted to say thank you for all your kind words and suggestions. I was so down yesterday and couldnt see the silver lining. But as usual God reminded me I got into this for health reasons not for numbers on a scale. I fell into the trap of wanting to be smaller to impress my mom when she comes in October to see me and lost focus on the real goal at hand. Mom is not and will never be impressed because she just isnt and I need to do this for me. I have always had a weight issue because early on mom rewarded us for being super thin. Now is my chance to shine for me!
I am going to work hard at this and put it all in God's hands which I didnt do the past two weeks.
Thank you all for opening my eyes and for listening to me rant. I appreciate each of you!!!!!

Hugs to ya girl! Sorry to chime in so late but, I have been off the computer for the last few days.
I am proud of you for pushing past the emotional part of a stall. It is not fun and it really can get you down. I totally agree with you.
Sherri offered some great insight and so did the others. It's so good to come here and feel supported and encouraged. You can come to us anytime and you know we will be here for you.
Be sure to share with us when you get that jumpstart again. I ususally have to change my type of protein to get a bump in the stall. Either way, it will happen so hang tough and be proud of your accomplishments so far.
Huge hugs,
Tracy
