anger eating
Has any one else dealt with eating when angry? I work every Sunday. The nurse who hired in after me, less senority, was just granted every Sunday off. My inpule was to eat every thing in sight, because I was so mad. Of coarse I can't, so I didn't ,but was surprised at my reaction. I thought thru my impulse to eat and reasoned that eating would not solve anything. Does anyone else want to eat out of anger or hurt feelings and how do you deal with it? Thanks goodness for my RNY or I would have probably eaten myself into a stupor! Wendy
Wendy this sort of behavior is called "emotional eating", I think we all understand. Emotional eating is what got me to 288 pounds.
These are the types of issues that need to be addressed now while your tool is new and working at its best so you can set yourself up for long term success. I am one year out from surgery and can now eat quite a bit and do feel hunger after about five or six hours. This is exactally what is meant when you hear the term "they operated on our stomach's not our heads".
I took a six week class at St Francis on Emotional Eating and it was a great eye opener and motivator. The cost was $50, but you can go to the class as many times as you want after you pay the one time fee of $50. This class is open to anyone not just those who have had surgery or St F patients. Maybe your nut or surgeon would have a suggestion for you if St F's isn't convenient for you.
