I have to have a picc line put in the morning before surgery (since I am over 300??) Did any of you have this?  Does it hurt?  Do I need someone to come with me?  Thanks for answers!!!

I haven't had my WLS surgery yet, but I had a PICC line back in December due to an infection from my c-section.  It didn't hurt.  They numbed the area up first and I didn't feel a thing.

I had to have one, it does not hurt they give you a local astitic, you are awake for it.  I took someone with me, but I felt that I could drive afterward, it was a little uncomfortable, and kept getting caught on the sleeve they gave me.  Hope this help.

I have one from my cancer last year. Skin around the picc line area was tender for about a month or so but other then that - it was outpatient - I drove home afterwards w/no problems.

I had one in March and it was no worse than a regular IV since they numb you up. You'll be happy you have it, no multiple pokes for IV's and lab draws!!
