Dr. Gupta and another thing...

I had a PCP appointment today re my back.  I asked him (my PCP) if Dr. Gupta was coming to Witham and he told me yes.  I asked if Witham was going to do a Bariatric program and he said no.  She wasn't coming for that.  He also said her first day was 8/1.  Wouldn't go into any more detail.   Thought I would pass that on.....

Since my back isn't getting any better, I am seeing another surgeon for a second opinion.  By evening my pain on a scale of 1 (neglible) to 10 (extreme) is a 15.  Don't know where this will lead but I hope to a resolution!  Please keep me in your prayers.  I'm so tired of pain.

I am sorry to hear about your back.  I have had 2 back surgeries myself.  The first on when I was only 18.  I have been to the point of a wheelchair.  I have a FANTASTIC surgeon in Indy.  He also put my Dad's neck back together after a terrible car accident that broke his neck all the way through....dad is still walking.  If you are interested let me know and I would be glad to give you his info.  Good luck!

Lois have you tried massage therapy for your back?  Just a thought.  I have a friend who is a massage therapist and she has done wonders for my back.  Most massage schools have discounted pricing if a student is requested to perform the massage.  Just a thought to pass along with you.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  I understand all too well about dealing with pain.

Blessings to you all, Leah

I am going for a second opinion first before I go to the homeopathic methods just to be sure another disc hasn't herniated.  I had 4 discs ready to herniate when I had my surgery last August.  I just need to be sure nothing is medically wrong.   I will have to find just the right person also because I don't want to be in even more pain!  I may try acupunture first also.  I have a friend whose husband has had it done and swears by it.  Anything, anything is better than the pain.

Lois,

Dr. Gupta is on call all this week for the St. Vincent office. I think my visit with her was one of the last scheduled office appointments she had.

It's my understanding that Dr. Gupta is going over to Witham for a number of reasons. It's not that she's tired of bariatrics or anything. She will be able to do a wider variety of surgeries at Witham though...and I would imagine that for a surgeon, it would be very important to not let those learned skills get too rusty. I didnt' get the idea that she plans to specialize as she did with the bariatrics at St. V's. Her office will be right there in the hospital.

I am going to miss Dr. Gupta very much. She literally saved my life on more than one occasion.

I'm sorry to see that you are having more problems. I hope that the 2nd opinion can offer you some hope.
