Finally at my breaking point

Hello all!! I registered here quite some time ago...I guess I just wasn't ready for the commitment that a step like surgery would take. I think I am finally at that point.

What should i do with my primary care doctor to get things in motion? How long of a process is it to get into a surgeon?

My primary doctor is of no help.  I am borderline diabetic (probably full if proper testing would be done.) I have fatty liver and hirrible acid reflux.

I weigh right at 275 pounds and I am 5 ft 6.

Depending on insurance, Clarian works pretty quickly.  I would call and go to an informational meeting and make sure it is for you.

I am pre surgery, so I can't tell you about surgery, but I will say I am here if you need to talk!

I have medicaid for my insurance. I will lose it soon when I get a job. I have been in college for the last few years and finally got my degree. I have been looking for work...but I know that my weight is keeping from getting a good job. Who wants somebody who looks like they would have a ton of medical issues.

There are alot of restrictions with Medicaid.  I think you have to do a mandatory 6 months of supervised weight loss, but if you are serious about doing this, call one of the centers (Clarian or St V) right away and find out how they can help you.

Good luck to you and I hope you are able to find a surgeon and get it done.  It's an amazing journey and you will feel soooo much better.

The Surgeons at St. V. have an information meeting for free with new patients.  You could call there and ask if they have a surgeon who accepts medicaid and they will get the ball rolling for you.

Huge hugs,
Tracy
