A revision question that I don't know how to answer.
Dawn,
Someone else just asked out revision yesterday. My response to her was that of the revisions that I know about (my own included), no two were for the same exact reasons. And while it is not common to have to have a revision, it is also not totally unheard of. Some revisions may be after somone is years post-op...but others, when they are less than a year post-op. Some may be due to the stoma and/or pouch being too stretched out..but others because of problems with the pouch, stoma, or intestines. Mine was with my stoma ripping. The cause and the timing can be just as individual as each of us are.
I also try to assure pre-ops that are concerned when they hear about revisions, strictures, or other complications to rest assure that their surgeon will be able to help them get through what ever may arrise. I've had a laundry list of them I think and I'm still around to talk about them. That is not nearly a kudo's for me as it is for the wonderful surgeons that I have had.
Best of luck with your upcoming revision.
