I need to find a Gastric Bypass Surgery friendly Hematologist. The one I have now doesn't seem to "get it" and thinks our level needs are the same as everyone else in the world.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I live in Edinburgh and can drive to Indy if i need to.

Also, is CLarian Bariatrics the same as where I went at Wishard? Maybe a name change? I've been out of the loop for a while. Thanks.

I go to Dr Dorinda Rouch at St. Vincents. I don't really  know if she gets the whole WLS thing. She definately insisted that I stop losing. I took her advice on that one and am sorry. Dr Gomez also did my WLS at Wishard and he is still there. I have transferred to Clarion though. Jana

I go to Dr. Robert Manges.  He's always done right by me.  He was my heamtologist before WLS.  I have Factor V Leiden (blood clotting disease) and see him at least once a year.  He's at the top of his profession and the surgeon's I have worked with, admire him.

I go to Dr. Olivarez at the Schneck Cancer Center here in Seymour. Your probably just as close to Indy than here BUT she's pretty knowledgeable about WLS. She has helped with my iron tremendously. It's taken 10 infusions to get me stable but it's been worth it.
