Wednesday Daydreams

What do you mean there's no holiday this week?  You actually expect me to work 5 days in a row!?!  How unfair!

Okay, let's daydream a bit.  You get a call saying you won a vacation to anywhere in the world you want to go.  Where would you pick?

I'd like to see Italy.

I would like to go to Italy as well. It is where my ancestors are from. Both of my mothers parents are from Italy,  Calbria and Bari.  My grandmother and her 2 sisters came over on a boat from Italy to the states years ago. They were the Caruso sisters and came over to this country to make better lives. I don't know a lot about the story of my grandfather, only that he came over here to the states as well and got hooked up with my grandmother through family. My parents tried to take my grandmother back years ago to visit and she would not go. She would have no part in going back to where she was from. That is sad, but grandma had such bad memories of her upbringing there. They were so poor she did not have her first pair of shoes until she was a teen. They had to wrap their feet in cloth for the cold weather and in the good weather they walked around on the cobblestone streets which would cut their feet up. Also, she had purple stained feet for most of her young life because they stomped grapes to make money for the family. Isn't that amazing? And, to think we complain if we get a high cell phone bill or spend too much on electricity. Amazing what we take for granted.
So, after rambling on... (LOL) I would love to go to Italy and see the catherdral and research where my grandparents came from.
Thanks for this question.

Thanks for sharing.  I love to hear family histories.  You are so right, we are blessed and most of the time we are not thankful.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Annette..I work 4 ten hour days. It make me feel like I have a long weekend every week. Love it! Once I'm already at work, what's 2 more hours? Our lunch isn't paid for so I'm there from 5 AM to 3:45 pm...so I'm getting out at a decent time too.

It would all depend on how many tickets I was given on where I'd choose to go. If only one ticket and it had to be in the continental US, it would be Daytona Beach. I love walking along the ocean there. If it were 2 tickets, Bill & I would go to Vegas. Out of the US, I'd love to see Australia.

Have a really good day today!

Johnna - very cool story!! It would be neat to research about your grandparents!

I am torn between England and Ireland.  For some reason I have always felt this strong pull to visit and/or live in England.  No idea why, and i've never done anything about it, but its the weirdest feeling!! Maybe someday I'll make it there!!

Great question!

I'd go to Alaska.  I have been in LOVE with it since I was a child.  I'd love to live there but my husband doens't like cold weather like I do.   I would be SOOO happy if I lived somewhere that NEVER got over 50 degrees.  I would even live in the colder areas where you have many hours of darkness.  Everyone has always teased me that I might be a vampire.  My mom use to tell me that when I was  little.  I like it DARK and COLD.

I would head to Belarus in a heart beat. Minsk, specifically. Probably doesn't sound like the most appealing place out of all. But, I have a pen friend there in Minsk. We have been writing for about 17 years now. She has been here to visit me, but I haven't ever been able to come up with the dough to see her town.

Egypt.  In a heartbeat.  I want to see the pyramids first hand, meet the esteemed Dr. Zahi Hawass (I've seen him speak in person - he's Egypt's Director of Antiquities),  and participate in an archaeological excavation.
