kidney stones??
Hey everyone, I just have a question. I know I heard preop that RNY'ers can get kidney stones post op. I've never had trouble, but have recently begun having pretty bad flank pain. I have a dr appt in the AM to get things checked out, but wanted to know if anyone here has experience with this? I don't know for sure that it's a stone, if not I'm leaning towards my endometriosis acting up. But wanted everyone's insight.

Melissa,
I have never had any problems with kidney stones pre or post-op. Maybe because I drink mega amounts of water..? I usually surpass 100oz easily.
I got my tastefully simple order in this morning. Woo-hoo! I got an envelope from your consultant yesterday with suggestions on how to use everything I ordered. Another big woo-hoo! LOL!

I had kidney stones after being on a protein diet for 12 weeks. It was that optifast diet that Oprah went on where we ate nothing for 12 weeks and only consumed protein drinks. I had them in both kidneys while I was 7 months pregnant. After losing my weight I became pregnant and at 7 months thought I was going into labor. It was kidney stones. I had to have one side removed by retrieval and the other by lithotripsy. I have had them two times since then. The flank pain can become so extreme that I get ontop of a pillow on my bed face down and just moan waiting for the pain pills to kick in. After awhile they will go away or pass. I drink a lot of water and some cranberry juice too. I haven't had them since my WLS. Knock, knock on wood. Lord hopes that now since I have said this outloud!!
I don't know if I can help you but ask anything you want.

Like Sherri said, its VERY important to drink lots and lots of WATER! In February I thought I had one but after testing, everything was fine. I've never had one and hope it stays that way.
Endometriosis can cause Lots and LOTS of pain. I had stage IV endo, which is the worst. It was in my intestines and abdoman, as well as my female organs. I have a very good book on Endo that I can send to you to read. Send me a PM with your addy if you are interested. I really learned alot that I wish I would have known B4 all my trouble started.
