I'm not quite a week out - can I have string cheese? Its not on the sheet. Shredded cheese is on the list, but not string cheese....I know I should know this: "If its not on the yellow sheet you can't have it." But there is also room for leeway.

Thanks!!

String cheese made me sick that early out. I'd wait a bit longer if I were you. ;o)

You should wait a bit longer.  I was about a month out before I tried it.  When you do, peel it thin and chew it well.

Remember, you have a baby pouch.  Don't feed it anything you wouldn't give a baby.

I couldn't tolerate string cheese at ALL the first couple of weeks.  In my yellow book (which I know they update often), all it said for the first 4 weeks under full liquids was 'low fat cheese', shredded wasn't specified.  By about 3 weeks out I was able to eat one if I peeled it in teeny tiny pieces.

Yes, the yellow sheets are a living document for sure.  They change them about every 3 months.  So, when I had surgery mine just said LF cheese like Amy's.  I ate string cheese.  But my pouch is VERY durable.  I can eat most things with no problem.  I've only vomited maybe 5 times since surgery and all were b/c I didn't chew something well enough. (later in solid stage)  Some day I think Cacucci left my pouch the size of a BABY's head!
