How will I know which surgery is the right one for me?

I have my first appoint at St. Vincent's a week from Monday....I have been doing hours of research on all the different types of surgeries.  I am still very confused.  How do I know which one is right for me.  I think I am leaning towards the "sleeve" procedure b/c it sounds less invasive than the bypass?  Any thoughts or suggestions.?

You will learn alot at that appointment and the surgeon will answer tons of questions for you.  They will also give you suggestions as to what is best for you.  I knew long term that I needed to have the surgery that was most "restrictive" for me and would be my "diet" police.  The RNY does that for me.  I can't eat things that are really bad for me.  I get really icky when I even try things that I shouldnt.  So, for me, it was my best choice.

I wish you all the best!

Huge hugs,

At your appointment they will describe all the different surgeries and how they work. I to decided on RNY so it could restrict and also be my biggest defense agains me... Iwould sometimes eat without realizing how much and what I was eatting. the RNY lets me know HEY YOU HAVE HAD ENOUGH.. It also lets me know fried foods are not your friend.. because I dump on oils..

Look at what, when and how you eat.. and make your decision WITH the Dr. what ever you decide will be the one best for you..

Please be sure that your surgeon goes over all the possibilities. My surgeon does not do the DS and so she did NOT discuss it.  I was silly and didn't get on here  before surgery.  I didn't even really know about DS until after my surgery.  I don't think I would have changed my choice BUT I would have liked to know EVERYTHING.  I realize that it was my responsibility to find the information but I just don't want someone to make the same mistake.  I just researched the surgeries she discussed....dumb me.
