Pain in the butt--tailbone pain
My tailbone has been hurting for about 3 months now. Guess I first noticed it back in March but thought then it was just because I was sitting so much at the hospital with Lyn. But it is still hurting. I saw on the main board someone else was complaining about theirs so just wondered from my IN board friends if you experienced this? I thought it was just me and something was wrong but could it be because I have lost a lot of padding there?

Terry,
I think you hit on it exactly..that it's because you don't have the padding you once had.
When I had my hysterectomy, the gyn said that he had to reverse the position of my tailbone & I think he said my cervex. He said that between being overweight (which I was still then) and childbirth that it had caused their positions to reverse. It hurt like heck at the time because he had sewed them in placed by sewing into the butt muscle. I could not sit on that side for 4 weeks!! Anyway, I'm wondering if maybe I didn't notice the 'ouch! that's my tailbone!' as severely as alot of post-ops do because of the little reversal job that was done. Just a thought...
BTW Terry, I wanted to thank you for the lovely card you sent me. It means so much to me that as full as your hands are that you'd take the time out of your day to send me a card. And to wish you lived closer to help me out? Oh sweetie! I have often over the past months wished we were closer so I could help you out. Thank yo so much for caring. It does mean the world to me.

Terry,
I went through a time after my surgery where my tail bone was killing me! I bought an inflatable donut at Big Lots for a buck and took it everywhere with me. It doesn't bother me so much any more. My camp chair and every toilet seat hits it wrong. If I can find my donut, I'll send it with your package I'm putting together for you. The avon is due to deliver today. Hang in there. It does get better. At least mine did. I know your pain! It really is a pain in the butt!
Smooches,
Jacqui

Hi!
I am a fellow tailbone pain sufferer! I am just over 2 years post op now and it can still be a problem for me. I travel a lot and all that sitting is a pain in the ***! Some days are worse than others. It's not completely intolerable, but there are times were frankly I just want to reach in and snap the damn thing off.
I invested in this gel seat cushion for traveling, but I use it every day at my desk too and it really helps. When you lay it flat, the "handle" section creates a little well, and if you hover your tailbone in that void, it "floats" and thus no pressure. I LOVE THIS SEAT CUSHION!
I left my first one on a plane and never got it back, and in the meantime I did do the inflatable donut as it was considerably cheaper. However, the plastic donuts get hot and your bum will get sweaty. (As if we don't have enough problems already, right?) I gave up on the donut and replaced the gel cushion. And I'm keeping better track of this one....
