ran my first race and beat my goal!!!
I've been training for a 4 mile race for a couple months now, doing the C25K program. Last summer my husband and I walked the Haynes Apperson 3 mile walk in 42 minutes. This morning I did the 4 mile run in 40.31!!!! I am BEYOND thrilled!!! My goal was to finish in under 48 minutes....I've been running 3 miles, 3 times a week, averaging a 10 to 10 1/2 minute mile, but never tried doing 4 miles before.
Just had to share!!!! I am so thrilled. 14 months ago when I left St V's after my surgery I weighed 242 pounds, and today I'm 153...thank you Dr Evanson!!!!!

Melissa, if you decide to start a running program, I highly recommend www.c25k.com, using Robert Ullrey's podcasts. They are totally free, and it's a 9 week program designed to get you from running in 30 second increments up to a 30 minute/5K run by the 9th week. It's AWESOME, and I know that's how I managed to do the run yesterday.
