I received a sample of the Bariatric Advantage Calcium Crystals from my St. V nutrition class and really liked it. So I thought I would order some.  The description says:

"Calcium Lactate-Gluconate, has a bioavailability comparable to Calcium Citrate , but is neutral pH and has very high solubility in water making it perfect for a drink mix."

Its 600 mg of calcium per serving. But because it doesn't specifically say its "Calcium Citrate" im not sure if its what I should be taking???

Thanks!!

Sounds interesting. Must be a new product out. I would say if it is from bariatric advantage it must be ok because that's the brand that St. V's carries in their boutique. Also if it says that it is comparable it sounds ok. Just my opinion but, it sounds pretty good. Does it have a taste.

They have unflavored, raspberry and Lemon Lime. I tried the raspberry in some soy milk (I haven't had surgery yet..) and I tasted a hint of flavor, but nothing too strong.  It mixed up in the milk really well, so it wasn't grainy or anything.

Jamie,

When you have your nut class, you might want to take them with you and ask Linda about them. You will probably have to take 2-3 servings per day though. I believe the recommended amount for post-ops is now 1500 mg/day.

Please be sure to let us know what Linda says..ok?

Thanks!

I would think if they handed them out at a St. V. nutrition class they would be okay. You should ask the dietician how much you should take of that particular kind though.

I bought mine at Clarion. I use the lemon lime in Crystal Light lemonade. Knowing that I need at least 2 servings a day it helps me get more water in. Jana

Strong possibility that it will not taste the same or as good after surgery.  Do Not be surprised.
Taste changes for most.

This product is good, but I was also given a website that we can order calcium crystals from online and get 1 1/2 year supply for a little more then what we pay for a 90 supply through St v's.  I am at work and do not have that website available right now.

Crystals are good, that is what I am taking now, just do not mix with anything hot, it looks like it a clabor like bad milk and tastes awlful.

I mix with my s/f koolaid, gatorade, etc.

I have a DS and I use the Raspberry in just plain water.  I had to acquire the taste for it.

I take it three times a day, since I need 1800 g daily.  My PCP is OK with it, as is Dr. Inman.

Drinking it also counts toward my 64+ oz. of  daily fluids, so I kill two birds with one stone.
