Me.....

Good morning from St. Vincent Carmel! I got about 6 hours of sleep last night so I feel like I am doing WAY better. Tiffany brought me up my laptop yesteray so I could check in with all of you. She's such a good daughter! Bill has been pretty good through this too.

Okay...special thanks to Gail. She's my phone angel! She feels bad because she hasn't been able to get up here to see me but I understand. My mom never got her driver's lisence either. Kat...I hope you got your window installed yesterday. And Linda Vicory is setting a pattern here. She was the first person to come see me when I got out of the coma and the first to see me after this. Ellen, Shanna, Jessica, and a friend of mine, Denise all came up last night (as did Tiff & Rod). I've gotten several phone calls and emails. My room # is 312 and my cell # is 317-446-8423.

I'm waiting for my very special guests to come in this morning....Dr. Bergman & Dr. Gupta. I am still on ice chips only and the plan is to take it very slow getting me back to foods. I'm fine with that. By the time I am on solids, 5 days will probably have past so my pouch should be down to a shrunken version of itself. lol.

A few corrections...
My belly is closed up all the way so no open wounds. The abdominal wall under the skin is still open ~2". If they had pulled it any tighter they would had risked cutting off the intestinal blood supply...again. This strip has a piece of bovine (cow) tissue put in place to connect the two sides of the wall. They used tissue from a calf so it is extra tender and should give way when my own tissues & blood vessels want to infiltrate it and make it part of 'me'. They couldn't use the regular mesh since my body aparently doesn't like it. They were afraid to use the dissolvable kind since the risk of a hernia ia higher then...and I already have high enough risks for complications.

The incision line is so tight, it's nice. And I do have a belly button. We just couldn't see it before because it so petite now.

I don't know how long I'll be in here. Dr. Gupta kinda apologized that it is going to take longer with them being very precautious. I told her...and I meant it!!...that I would prefer to be cautious.

I'll try to get on here and fill you guys in as I learn more.

hugs!
Sherri

Sweet Sherri,
I was so glad to visit with with you  last night! Shanna,Jessica, & I had a great time visiting with visiting, & met one of your good buddy's. After the horrible time you had last time, I wan't sure what to expect. But, there you were sitting up talking, and before we left, we went for a long walk- to the OB ward !No, not thinking that -for any of us, but the newborns were so cute!!!! When you told us about  telling the nurse you had passed gas, I nearly died laughing- they have no idea how important that is -for you! I swear Sherri , you could  be a Dr.!!!! Hummm- Dr.Sherri- sounds good- second career?!

Your hot tub and tanning bed have been calling-it has been 2 yrs. since you've been able to use either one~ so heal quickly- alittle "honeymoon" time is in order!!!!!!!
Tell Tiff again,we didn't mean to scare her- poor girl! I never thought of leaving her a note! We won't do that again!!

Gotta run-Love you girl, will talk/text you!!

Sherri, it's great to hear from you. Glad all has gone so well and I agree that taking things slowly is not a bad thing. You'll be home before you know it.

Dr. Gupta has been in. She listened to my intestines and they aren't being very noisy...so at least one more day of ice chips. We are taking it all day by day. Once they are producing gas, then I can go up to liquids.I would imagine that having a bowel  movement would be the next goal before moving up to soft foods. I'm not looking to be out of here until after the weekend.

Gail will be having a hernia surgery tomorrow morning. She's going to ask Dr. Huse to put her on the same wing I'm on instead of the bariatric wing. LOL! we are lible to have our own 'party' going on!

I asked Dr. Gupta about her leaving. She;s going to Whythem (sp?) and do more general surgeries. She is keeping Dr. Cacucci filled in about me so that she can step right in as my doc. I told her that she was the talk of the board. haha! Tiffany suggested that her patients on here might would like to pool together to get her a card & gift. What do you think?

Well..time for pain meds and then back to bed. I time my walks & breathing stuff around when I can have meds again. So Ellen...I did get to go see the babies again today...twice so far.

huggs...
Sherri
