I am going to my first cookout since surgery. I am undecided how to handle the food. Should I just pack my own? I really don't want to draw attention to myself, but am in the second phase of eating. Any suggestions? Wendy

I'd pack your own. You're still new enough post op that you don't want to push your luck and end up sick eating something you shouldn't have. Do those people who will be there know about your surgery? If they do, they'll be understanding. If they don't, just tell them you're trying to watch what you eat.

Have fun!!

I would pack my own. Anytime I went anywhere to eat, except my mom's I pack for the entire first year. I was probably a little over cautious, but that was me. I didn't worry about what people thought of me, I had made a decision to change my life and I wasn't going to do anything to screw it up.

I would pack my own, better be safe the sorry.  Some suggestion they made yesterday at the Nut. Class is that we can pack our own, or show up after people are done eating.
