Happy Memorial Day!

No matter what you have planned for the day, I hope it's a good day for you!

I know many people have traditions that they do every year on Memorial Day. I think most people have a picnic of sorts; grilling, family, fun. Many also visit the graves of relatives and friends. On my mom's side of the family, they have their annual family reunion in Alabama which ends today with what I refer to as a 'photo session' at the headstones of my great-grandparents. I kid you not. The whole group gets clustered behind the headstones, then it breaks away to granny's oldest child's entire family..then that child's children each have pictures done with their kids, grankids. It continues to go downward until all the generations are represented with only their immediate parents (or by themself if that child is an adult). Granny had 6 kids. Each of those kids had 3-6 kids themself. For my family line, Tiffany would had been in the pic with everyone, the pic with my mom as the head of the branch, the pic where I am the head of the branch, and then finally, the pic of Tiff with her family. So..4 layers of pics. It takes about 3 hours to get through everyone. That whole time, I cringe. I don't like to see people smoking in a graveyard. I think it's disrespectful. I also don't like to see anyone using a headstone as a chair. Also disrespectful. With my mom's side of the family it's 'what? I want a smoke and my legs are tired.'.  It actually surprises me that none of them have brought lawn chairs out with them. If they brought out a cooler of Bud, that wouldn't really surprise me either. Yes. I have a bunch of rednecks in my family tree. Anyway....I'd only been twice and decided to quit going to this reunion and photo shoot about 8 years ago. So now Memorial Day is just spent being lazy. This, I'm good at! No photo shoot needed.

So...whatever you do...however you spend the day...May you have a relaxing and peaceful day...

Good Day!!!

I am going to enjoy my day with my kids and parents.  It seems as though my days get shorter instead of longer in terms of time to spend with my family.  Being gone 12 hours a day between work and commute is a lot of lost time.

Anyways, I am going to enjoy my time with them and hang out outside and enjoy the weather.  I also have some laundry and housework to do during the day also.  I might even try to fit in some shopping too.  Go figure.  My new found love (not really, but it sounded good).

Well I hope that everyone enjoys the holiday and remember all those that the holiday is meant to honor.

Have a good day and enjoy your family.

Don’t ever let anyone take for granted the beauty that is within you. Stand firm and know that you’re a wonderful person. Always remember your value and respect yourself. I’m so blessed to have you in my life.  Sometimes we all need to be reminded how special we really are!

Happy Memorial Day my fellow Hoosier Losers.  I am lucky enough to have the day off today.  Probably hang pretty close to the house for most of the day then take the grandkids home this afternoon.  My son has drum lessons in Greenwood at 5 so I may take the kids home a lil earlier and get in a lil Memorial Day shopping.  I slept in until 830 and boy did that feel good.  I needed it cause these kids had wore me out.

Peace and Love to you all.

Good morning - the thunder woke me up early this morning.... yawn....  Probably will just be cleaning house and getting ready to return to work tomorrow.  ugh.

On a lighter note, we did get to spend time Saturday night doing one of my favorite things - going to the drive in!

Here's my precious Betty Boop at the drive in:

and another pic of her after it got darker and we could flip on her custom pink neon

Happy Memorial Day to all. God Bless each and every soldier that gave their ultimate price for us to have our freedom.

I am off today, and with the rain coming, we haven't got much of anything planned for today.  We may grill out later this afternoon, just not sure yet. Hope everyone gets to spend it the way they want to........whether it be with family and friends, at work, or just spending time by yourself reflecting on the times.

Have a wonderful day all, and take care.  We are still hoping to get to come to Holiday World on Saturday........has anyone heard of anything about the plans?  Let me know. Hope to see you all then. Take care and have a great day!
At Goal! 165 pounds gone forever! Thank you Lord!

That sounds really interesting!    I think I would bow out gracefully.  We picked my dad up at (as Emil calls it) the storage facility.  (Nursing Home) took him to lunch at MCL then to the movie, Night at the Smithsonian.  It is a good movie.  Someone had a great imagination.
Hope your all had a great holiday weekend.

Happy Memorial day
I was in walmart getting a baby gift and i over heard 2 old men talking about the old days and the friends they had lost in the wars and then i looked down and seen them holding each others hand and i seen the tears rolling down there cheeks ,one looked up and seen me and said im so sorry honey didnt mean to look like a big sissy and im like sir you are not a sissy you are a hero who has lost his freinds and i admire  you and what you have given ,so i ask if i could give them a hugg and went on my way.
I think we often forget .

Hello all, I hope everyone had a safe and fun Memorial Day !  My son was in the New Castle Memorial Day Parade w/ his T-Ball team.  He had a blast, his mom got to walk the entire route along side the float passing out candy (she was wore out).  I was in charge of video (lol), great parade, the best New Castle has ever had in my opinion, and almost two hours long.  So nice to honor all the veterans, law enforcement, fireman, etc.  The kids having so much fun either in the parade or catching candy from the floats, etc.  Definitely a good time had by all !

Sherry, I can relate about the respect and etiquette I think needs to be displayed at a cemetery.  I get there and I walk step by step easily, I don't want to walk on anyone's grave, etc.  I cannot believe someone would have the gall to sit on a headstone, I would at least hope it was there own family member.

Christie, nice ride !!!!!  I love the lights, hope you had a great night at the drive-in.  New Castle has a drive-in also and you just made me want to take the family and go see a movie, thank you !!!!

Iamasweetheart, yes you are !!!!!  The Walmart encounter touched my heart, you are a sweet lady to stop and give those vet's a hug !!!!!  I could go on but I'm just going to leave it at that, God Bless you !!!!

To everyone else I hope you had a special day, and take care !!!!!
