Abstinence letter

I was told to get this type of letter from my PCP, but I forget what I need to have been free from tobacco and drugs--was there a third thing.  Do the PCP's know what you are talking about when you ask for this???  Thanks!!!

Sorry - just kidding.  I never heard of having to get an abstinence letter.  Did you call your surgeon and ask?  Mine tested for the presence of tobacco.

That's what I first thought also!!!!  My surgeon's office called me and told me they needed it.....

I didn't have to do this either but I would think from an insurance point of view 'tobacco, alcohol, and drugs'. It's best to stay away from caffiene & carbonation as Linda said..but I doubt they'd want that in writing pre-op. I think I'd call the surgeon's office and ask them.

i had to have the letter from my PCP about smoking too...
kinda stupid. b/c they're gonna ck your blood and see what you tobacco levels are...
