Thought this was interesting!
Like Hoosiers really need this? Our unemplyment is high...jobs are leaving the state every day. Stores are having to close up...stores that have been around forever. When Myranda & I were at Washington Square yesterday I noticed that BJ Dalton was even gone. How sad of a statement is it that the mall couldn't keep it's only book store there?
I had just heard Thursday that all of the utilities will probably go up anyway to help support some of the money that congress is approving to go elsewhere.
One tax that I thought was pretty good..but logisitically impossible for restaurant owners...is that an additional tax would be placed on all 'unhealthy' food items...including pop (but not diet pop),, candy, chips, etc. I did get a kick out of having a Ho-Ho tax! I told Bill that if they'd legalize prostitution, that Ho tax could make the Ho-Ho tax non-needed! No..I'm not for prostitution but it's been around forever. As far as I'm concerned, might as well legalize it, tax it, and make stipulations to it that are governement controlled..just like with any other business. If they were required to do health checks, etc., that would be a win-win for them & their 'customers'. It'll also do away with the need for pimps.
Whiile we're at it, might as well legalize pot too but make it on the equal as our other legal smoking material...ciggarettes. Tax the hell out of it and make it to where people could just pretty much smoke it if they are in their own home (if they don't rent anyway since alot of condo's are non-smoking). Intead of chasing drug lords bringing in pot to the US, go after the ones who do the other crap.
Gee..they wouldn't want me in congress, would they? lol!
