when am I going to.....(sorry gotta ask)

Okay...surgery was monday and everything is going great--I am on pureed foods...yes, all docs are different and that is what my doc and nut said to do...so, I am eating very little but I want to know...when am a going to poop??  Yes, kinda gross but I keep hearing that constipation is a big deal and I don't want that...SO..when can I expect it??  and what will help it happen??

I had surgery last Tuesday.  I am now on full liquids.   How are you doing with your fluid and protein? 

Poop is important.  I broke down after the 5th day and purchased dulcolax suppositiories.  You should check with your doctor as they may have a specific preference. 

I had the big ol poop 5 days after surgery. My Doc said the pain meds cause a little poop problem. My Doc also said I could take some Milk of Mag. Here's hoping the poop fairy visits you soon. lol Wendy

Drinking lots of water.... and I ddrank Juicy juice... dont worry abouty it... us Bari patients like a good poop discussion.. LOL

I didnt think i was ever gonna go after surgery and it was the pain meds and the more i drank and walked the easier it became........................
If you dont go after awhile call your doc and see what you can have..

Hi, It took me 5 days after surgery and it was w/ some help !!!!  I checked w/ the doc to see what was OK for me to take, so I drink a cap full of Miralax dissolved in water a day (mid-morning) and I take two Ducolax tabs in the evening.  I had real bad constipation and this seems to have me under control.  At least until I'm off the pain meds and my body adjusts some more !!!!!

I went the day after surgery.  I still go twice a day, regular as clockwork. 

Anybody here will tell ya - I'm full of poop!   

I came  home eating also so yes all surgeons are different.  I was eating oatmeal, applesauce, cream of chicken soup and such in the hospital.  Anyway, try some Kashi Go Lean warm breakfast cereal it will work for you.  It is lovingly called Kashi Go Poop on the other boards here on OH lol.  I have used it many times during the past nine months with great success.

Congrats on your surgery as I am preop...I'm sorry I can't answer your question, but I will be doing the poo poo dance for ya in hopes ya go soon!!

Hi...I was very lucky..I had surgery On may13th..wednesday..and friday night I had my first poop and every day since then.Good Luck to you.
