Having a Tracheotomy
Mike--I would definately recommend the trach. My husband was on oxygen 24 hr a day before surgery.. he had a major post op complication due to respiratory problems and his CO2 went up to 159 which is WAY above normal and basically put him to sleep and he couldn't breathe. He ended up having a respiratory arrest 3 days post op and a cardiac arrest. he now has a trach and I really feel if he would have had it pre op the complications may not have happened.
He did fine with the bariatric surgery it was just the respiratory problems so it sounds like you will be fine getting this taken care of before surgery.
I had RNY also and I am doing fine. Will be thinking of you
