I am happy about the post about eating real food after four weeks, but I thought it was pureed, mostly could just add pureed meat. Can we really have strawberries, cucmbers, etc.? I didn't think real food started until about three months post op. Also I crave water, but can't get as much in as I want because of protin drinks. Any suggestions? Wendy

I agree ladies from weeks 5-8 needs to be pureed foods per the yellow pages, our stomach is still healing.  This is according to St. Vincent guidelines however !!!!!

Hey Everyone:

Yes, well I thought everything had to be pureed too. BUT--I went to meet with the dietician on Thursday.  She said that the only thing that needs to be pureed is chicken breast and pork.  The other things on the list are okay to eat with out pureeing them--just chew chew chew.  I wouldnt just start eating those types of food if I hadnt been told it was okay by the dietician.

Yep,  the best bet is to follow the yellow sheets if you are a St V person and if you have questions contact your NUT.  If you are a patient somewhere else contact your doc office.  We have very similar guidelines but even the doctors at St V have different standards per patient.  When in doubt as the pro who did your surgery.

I love my yellow pages from St V.  It became my bible so to speak.  I used to refer to it often but now that my diet has advanced so much, I am happy with my choices and dont have to check on them as often.

Congrats to all our newbies for being so concerned and trying to do exactly what you should.  It will serve you well.

Huge hugs,
Tracy
