Bursitis anyone?
HI All~
I've been having this pain for at least 2-3 weeks now in my hip/groin area. I realized that I had unconciously stopped working out as much and know I really need to be committed to my routine, so I made a doc appt. today. Guess what? I have bursitis! I always thought that was something older people got..ugh! So, apparently the nurse practitioner told me that the way I got it was probably overdoing my exercise routine and then slacking off. Well yeah, if I'm in pain, i'm not going to do it, right?! Anyway, she said something about going to the orthopedic center and getting a shot. She also said that it should be corrected after I get the shot, but I also have to cut back on the exercise right now---slow to build up. Anway, I'm posting this hopefully so someone will be saved the grief of getting bursitis and a lovely shot. She said she could give me prednisone, but it would take a lot longer to heal. I didn't know if I could do prednisone and I'm ready for this pain to go away...like yesterday! I am definitely feeling my age today...and a few other people's too. Yuck!
On a lighter note, I just have to toot my own horn a bit. When I was exercising I was going to the Y and actually made it a whopping 30 minutes on the elliptical machine. Yippeee!! Me...at almost 400lbs. Heck, 2 years ago I couldn't manage to do 1 minute on it! That is definitely a blessing to me!
So, I guess the moral of the story is....hmmmm.....especially to the newbies....gradually build up your work out....I'm also going to be looking into a trainer. I think it will really help--just to make sure I don't overdo it again.
Take care all. Hope you are well!
