Ok, what the efff...I've been HUNGRY all dang day
Hey Everyone,
Seriously,I dont understand this. Over the past couple of days I havet felt so good so I didnt really get to eat alot--just dinner. I wasnt hungry for anything either. Then today I woke up (late) not feeling well again. Skipped Breakfast and felt fine. Then, suddenly I was starving!!! I mean my belly was growling like it did pre-op. So, I went to Taco Bell and got an order of beans...the problem was---I ate the WHOLE bowl~~!!!! WTF? It didnt even hurt my belly at all. Heck, I didnt even notice I had ate it all until i got to the last bite! Then, and hour later starving again. LOUD growling back. Got home and made me an egg with some gravy on it. Ate the WHOLE thing. Plus two more bites of gravy. Both meals had to be at least 4-6 ounces each. And here it is just about 3hours after dinner and the GROWLING is back. I am hungry again. This is NUTS. I am only 3 weeks and 2 days post-op!!! Is this normal or has it happened to anyone? Since I havent been feeling well, I havent been able to chew those vitamins or calcium pills. Ive gotten a few in but not all of em. Plus there is NO way ive gotten near enough protein in...could this have anything to do with this sudden hunger?
Let me know your thoughts,
Autumn

Autumn,
Please don't take this wrong but your not even 4 weeks out yet ! You should be eating 2 ounces (1/4 cup) at each setting three times a day (4-5 hours between meals). You also shouldn't be eating anything from a fast food restaurant, I'm sure you got the beans for protein, but the re fried beans prolly wasn't fat free nor the cheese, and like they told us in our all day nut class our wheels shouldn't hit the driveway of a fast food restaurant, and gravy is on the things to avoid list. We are on a "full liquids" plan for 4 weeks and I also don't see eggs on the list until week 5.
Please go back through your binder and refresh yourself on what we can have and when, also what vitamins we must have and how much of each. I for one agree It;s overwhelming to start out but ......... You prolly should consult one of the nutritionist if you are still filling bad after following the guidelines set out for us. Also try a protein supplement between meals, space them out to help keep your pouch full and content.
Autumn they gave us the tool to get our weight off it's up to us do do our part, we are all family here and you have asked for help and I hope I have w/o upsetting you! If there's anything I can help you w/ please let me know I will do what I can for you this I alot to go through we have to suceed !!!!!

babydoll....are you actually hungry or is your tummy rumbling....like others said maybe you are just thirsty....or head hunger is what you are going thru....when your belly makes those noises doesn't always mean you are hungry so you don't have to feed it....i never knew when i was hungry...i was just numb...so i made a schedule....even for my liquids....but oh when my feeling came back i knew exactly when i was full...so be careful ...head hunger really got to me but it passes....just don't feed that head hunger...just sip sip sip and follow your binder

Hi Kim,
Well, when I first came home after surgery--probably the first 2-3 days my belly rumbled. Maybe that's what it is now too. It's so weird though. Its happening again today, but I'm ignoring it. Just sipping on SF choc milk to get some protein in. I was able to drink body fortress for a while, but lately its making me gag. Not sure what thats about. Im feeling a little bummed today....just feel like I am not doing things the right way and I just cant get the right amount of protein in...
ugh.
thanks for your support!
Autumn
Babydoll there is no reason to feel bummed....we all make mistakes...just start over...get your binder out and go by the book...and you can't mess this up....its hard to get your protein in...i still struggle....you are still so new at this and it is hard...just try...and keep trying til you work your tool to the fullest....you have so much support here...if you start feeling bummed ...come here and lets chat it out....and get yourself out of that mood....this is a total learning experience...and we learn from our mistakes...so chin up and lets figure out how to get you up and going....find out when to feed that rumbling tummy, get your food choices better and more protein in :)

9 times out of 10 our hunger pains are our bodies cryijng out for something to drink... sip milk. eat cheese sticks and protien will fill you up.. Best o0f luck but the firdst 3 months are the hardesrt but you have to try to keep your yellow sheet right in front of you because you can hurt your pouch jumping to far to fast..

Your new pouch has not had time to recover from having surgery. When they severed your stomach they cut the nerve endings, they need time to recover. Your pouch at this point is numb, you won't feel full for probably six weeks give or take, so you could be stretching your pouch. A t this point that is dangerous because of your suture line. It is very important that you measure your foods and do not overeat at this time!! I agree with Linda Kay these "hunger pains" are probably symptoms of thirst..try it. You need to find a distraction for yourself for when you are feeling this "hunger" to help you get through it. I remember this part well and it stinks but it doesn't last long so hang in there.
This is the toughest time of your journey, it will get better.
